We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. - That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.

New Beginnings

With the idea that New Year's is a time for new beginnings, I want to share with you some ideas given by our bishopric for strengthening families. These are some suggestions for new and better beginnings given to our ward members, which have been proven to strengthen individuals and families. 1. Pray Earnestly: "Pray in your families unto the Father, always in my name, that your wives and your children may be blessed" (3 Nephi 18:21). a) Daily personal prayer; b) Daily family prayer; c) Fast monthly with a purpose 2. Study Diligently: "… wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what you should do" ( 2 Nephi 32:3). a) Daily personal scripture study; b) Daily family scripture study; c) Weekly family home evening 3. Serve Willingly: "… by love, serve one another" (Galatians 5:13). a) Magnify callings; b) Attend temple regularly; c) Excel at visiting teaching and/or home teachings 4. Enjoy Time Together Regularly: "Behold, their husbands love their wives, and their wives love their husbands; and their husbands and their wives love their children" (Jacob 3:7). a) Weekly dates with spouse; b) Regular wholesome family activities; c) Consistent one-on-one time with children
