Voter Fraud

I watched a program on C-span where Charlie Cook explained that there are a lot of things that go wrong during an election.  He said that most of the things that happen are "honest mistakes" due to workers not being trained properly to handle the voting equipment, not enough ballots delivered to a prescient, machines that do not work properly, etc.  He said that these honest mistakes make up about 99.9 percent of the things that go wrong and deliberate voter fraud makes up the other tenth of a percent.

He had me almost convinced until I read some articles about voter fraud or attempted voter fraud taking place.  The first article was about how the FBI has joined the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in an investigation of voter fraud in Florida. It seems that many Florida residents spread over 18 counties in central and southwest Florida received bogus letters questioning their eligibility to vote.  Anyone receiving a letter questioning their eligibility should contact their supervisor of elections and keep the letter for the FBI.

I then read an article about how Patrick Moran, son of Representative Jim Moran (D-Va) and field director of his father's campaign, was "caught on video advising an undercover reporter how to fraudulently cast ballots in the name of registered voters by forging utility bills and relying on the assistance of Democrat lawyers."  An update stated that Patrick Moran resigned from his father's campaign after the video was published.

A third article was about machines malfunctioning during early voting in North Carolina.  Several voters complained that they voted for Romney, but the machine defaulted to give the vote to Obama.  It took one woman three attempts before her vote counted for Romney.  A similar thing was happening in other locations.

Then there is the announcement that civil rights groups were so concerned about conservatives suppressing voters that they requested help from the United Nations!  Monitors from Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), a group affiliated with United Nations, will be watching for any mischief being done by conservatives at polling places in the United States.  I think this request was made because conservatives want voters to identify themselves properly before they are allowed to vote.

I do not know if there is voter fraud or simply "honest mistakes" being made.  I do know that our nation is severely divided and that there are many people who think that the end justifies the means.  I am hoping and praying that Heavenly Father is "monitoring" this presidential election and will protect our nation from evil.  Please join me in prayer in behalf of our nation and that we may retain our liberties.  I hope Romney wins in a landslide and avoid all the post-election problems of past elections!
