Ryan for VP

                    What do you think about Mitt Romney selecting Paul Ryan to run as Vice President on the Republican ticket?  I like Paul Ryan and have a lot of respect for him; I believe that he will be an excellent VP and do much to bring fiscal sanity to the United States.  My only objection to him is that he was a solid conservative in the United States House of Representatives and now his seat will be open for possible liberal takeover.  I hoped that Romney would choose someone that was not currently in office and keep all the current office-holding conservatives in place to fight our battle with Progressives.

                    I heard a good campaign slogan for the Romney/Ryan team that I really like:  "America Needs R and R."  With "R and R" meaning "rest and recreation/relaxation" in military jargon and "remove and replace" in the jargon of mechanics, I believe that the slogan is very appropriate.  We must remove and replace Obama in order that Americans can better rest/recreate/relax!

                    With the headline "50% Now View Paul Ryan Favorable; 43% Say He Was Right Choice," RasmussenReport.com reported, "The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 50% of Likely U.S. Voters now have a favorable opinion of Ryan, while 32% view him unfavorably.  This includes 29% with a Very Favorable view of Romney's vice presidential pick and 13% with a Very Unfavorable one.  Only 13% are now unfamiliar with Ryan, and five percent (5%) are not sure about him….

                    "Just prior to being picked as Romney's running mate, only 39% viewed Ryan favorably, while 25% held an unfavorable opinion of him.

                    "Forty-three percent (43%) of voters think Romney made the right choice when he chose Ryan to be his running mate.  Twenty-two percent (22%) disagree and think it was a bad choice.  A sizable 35% aren't sure.

                    "But 36% now say they are more likely to vote for Romney with Ryan as his running mate.  Twenty-nine percent (29%) say they are less likely to vote for the Republican, while just as many (30%) say the vice presidential selection has no impact on their vote."

                    Ryan on the ticket may bring more young women to vote for the Republican ticket.  A young friend wrote on Facebook that she thinks Ryan is "HOT!"  Several of her friends agreed with her assessment.

                    Young women are not the only people who have positive comments about Ryan.  William Kristol shared the following remarks delivered a year ago by Erskine Bowles (Clinton White House chief of staff) about Ryan:  "Have any of you all met Paul Ryan?  We should get him to come to the university.  I'm telling you this guy is amazing.  … He is honest, he is straightforward,

he is sincere.  And the budget that he came forward with is just like Paul Ryan.  It is a sensible, straightforward, serious budget and it cut the budget deficit just like we did, by $4 trillion.  … The president, as you remember, came out with a budget, and I don't think anybody took that budget very seriously.  The Senate voted against it 97 to nothing."  Kristol also reported that Bill Bennett suggested these remarks would make a good campaign ad for the Romney/Ryan team.

                    An article at Politico suggests that the GOP elite in Washington, D.C. are not totally behind Romney's choice for VP.  "In more than three dozen interviews with Republican strategists and campaign operatives - old hands and rising next-generation conservatives alike - the most common reactions to Ryan ranged from gnawing apprehension to hair-on-fire anger that Romney has practically ceded the election.

                    "It is not that the public professions of excitement about the Ryan selection are totally insincere.  It is that many of the most optimistic Republican operatives will privately acknowledge that their views are being shaped more by fingers-crossed hope than by a hard-headed appraisal of what's most likely to happen.

                    "And the more pessimistic strategists don't even feign good cheer.  They think the Ryan pick is a disaster for the GOP.  Many of these people don't care that much about Romney - they always felt he faced an improbable path to victory - but are worried that Ryan's vocal views about overhauling Medicare will be a millstone for other GOP candidates in critical House and Senate races."

                    These are probably the same GOP members that said negative things about the TEA Party!  Rush Limbaugh declared that they are just worried about keeping their own jobs - not about the good of America.  Whatever the reasons for their pessimism and reluctant support for the Romney/Ryan team, they appear to be "sitting on the fence" and deserve to be ousted!

                    In an interesting article by David Limbaugh, he wrote that "Ryan earned national attention because he addressed the issues candidly, soberly and with such a command of the facts and attention to detail that Democrats couldn't shame him off the stage.  Though he was calm in his presentation, he pulled no punches in warning that in the absence of major reforms, we would sustain a Greek-style financial collapse.

                    "Ryan has been the Anti-obama; he has provided the main adult leadership in the room, while Obama has been acting like a child in a candy store, spending every federal dollar he can get his hands on….

                    "Obama knows that Ryan has been his financial nemesis; ….

                    "Ryan's inclusion on the GOP ticket guarantees that the financial issues threatening our republic today will remain front and center.  As long as Ryan is around and playing a prominent role, Obama simply cannot effectively duck the issue….

                    "By choosing Ryan, Romney has drawn a bold line in the sand, telling the American people that his administration will tackle these problems no matter how much ridicule they receive from Obama and other Democrats."

                    I believe that Romney is a good man and chose another good man to serve as his Vice President and that the two men can and will work well together for the good of our nation.  They definitely have my vote!
