Most Important Question

                    The most important question that Americans should be asking is, "Are we better off now than we were four years ago?"

Members of President Barack Obama's staff and members of Vice President Joe Biden flinched when they were asked if Americans are better now than when Obama came into office; however, Democrats at their national convention assured reporters that they were much better off.

                    David Plouffe, one of the top aides in the Obama White House, said:  "The Romney path would be the wrong path for the middle class, the wrong path for this country."  He sidestepped answering the important question.  "We've clearly improved … from the depths of the recession," he said.

                    David Axelrod, another aide to the President, said, "I think the average American recognizes that it took years to create the crisis that erupted in 2008 and peaked in January of 2009.  And it's going to take some time to work through it."

                    The economy is not improving, no matter how Democrats spin the issue.  The state of the nation under Barack Obama is very much like it was under Jimmy Carter when everything was going downhill fast, except inflation - which kept going up.  Ronald Reagan challenged the Carter record often in his campaign for President.

                    "Can anyone look at the record of this administration and say, `Well done'?  Can anyone compare the state of our economy when [this] administration took office with where we are today and say, `Keep up the good work'?  Can anyone look at our reduced standing in the world today and say, `Let's have four more years of this'?  I believe the American people are going to answer these questions … and their answer will be, `No, we've had enough!'"

                    The American people then answered and a definite no, and Ronald Reagan became the President of the United States.  The economy and our foreign relations immediately started to improved, and they continued to improve greatly during the Reagan Administration.  Reagan also said, "Let me make our goal … very clear:  jobs, jobs, jobs, and more jobs….  Our policy has been and will continue to be:  What is good for the American workers is good for America."

After a very dark period of time, morning came to America once again with the election of Reagan.  Now we are in a similar or worst position, and Obama has done nothing to improve the situation.  He seems to want our nation to see crisis because emergencies are helpful in passing socialistic legislation.  Obama is not offering any new plans; in fact, he is repeating the same speeches that he gave in the 2008 campaign.  Americans must ask and honestly answer this very important question:  Are we better off now than we were four years ago?
