Birds of a Feather

                    There is an old adage that says, "Birds of a feather flock together," meaning that birds choose to spend their time with other birds like them.  My parents always said that we could determine the character of any person simply by noting the type of people they choose as friends.  Keeping these two thoughts in mind, is it fair to choose a President of the United States by looking at the foreign leaders who are endorsing our candidates?  I believe it is.

Representatives of foreign governments have publicly thrown their support behind Barack Obama for reelection.  Mariela Castro, daughter of Cuban military dictator Raul Castro and niece of Fidel Castro, declared that Cuba is firmly behind Obama's efforts to gain another term as President,  "I believe that Obama needs another opportunity and he needs greater support to move forward with his projects and with his ideas, which I believe come from the bottom of his heart."  The Castro family has ruled over Cuba for more than fifty years in a Communist dictatorship. 

Hugo Chavez, national leader of Venezuela, announced his public support for Obama, saying that "Obama is a good guy."  Chavez hates America and bashes our nation at every opportunity, but he thinks his endorsement should influence our votes!

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin also gave his endorsement to Obama.  Under the dictatorship of Putin most elections have been eliminated and major media has come under government control.  Are freedom-loving Americans supposed to consider this endorsement to be a good thing?

Some of us remember the flack President George W. Bush caught when he coined the term "Axis of Evil" and included North Korea, Iran, and Iraq in said group.  Since the term was coined, Iraq lost their evil leader in the war in Iraq, and the leadership of North Korea has passed to another generation. 

JP claims that the "Axis of Evil" has been "reset."  Iraq is no longer a member of it, but North Korea and Iran remain.  JP believes that Cuba, Russia, and Venezuela should be added to the group because "all of them [are] busy threatening the U.S., supporting terrorism financially and physically, and even sharing nuclear bomb technology.  Here's the punch line:  all five of those countries have endorsed the re-election of Barack Obama.  Why is that?"

Is anyone surprised that Obama is receiving endorsements by dictators who are unfriendly toward our nation?  I am not.  I believe that these endorsements simply show the kind of people who like Obama leading our nation.  Remember the hot mike that caught Obama telling a Russian representative that he would have more wiggle room after the election!  Could it be that these dictators want the United States to become a dictatorship also?

On the other hand, Mitt Romney was endorsed by freedom loving Lech Walesa in July.  Walesa led the people of Poland in their fight for freedom from the yoke of the former USSR.  He told Romney:  "I wish you to be successful because this success is needed to the United States, of course, but to Europe and the rest of the world, too.  Governor Romney, get your success, be successful!"

Is it fair to judge Obama and Romney by the people who endorse and support them?  I think it is!  Do we want our next President to be endorsed by communist dictators or by those who understand the value of freedom and are willing to fight for liberty?   I'll take the freedom fighters.  How about you?  Vote Republican on November 6.  Vote Romney and Ryan!
