What Now?

                    The 2012 presidential election is finally over.  Now what do we do?  Do we roll over and play dead?  Do we go back to sleep for another four years?  Do we continue the fight to protect and defend our Republic?  I hope that "we the people" choose the latter and stay involved in the political process.  I suggest that we all join The Heritage Foundation in continuing to "promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense."                     The government of the United States works for "We the people" as several former Presidents have said.  When Grover Cleveland gave his first inaugural address as President of the United States, he addressed the voter and public trust.

                    "[H]e who takes the oath today to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States only assumes the solemn obligation which every patriotic citizen - on the farm, in the workshop, in the busy marts of trade, and everywhere - should share with him.  The Constitution which prescribes his oath, my countrymen, is yours; the Government you have chosen him to administer for a time is yours; the suffrage which executes the will of freemen is yours; the laws and the entire scheme of our civil rule, from the town meeting to the State capitals and the national capital, is yours.  Your every voter, as surely as your Chief Magistrate, under the same high sanction, though in a different sphere, exercises a public trust."

                    After serving as President of our Republic for two terms, President Ronald Reagan emphasized in his farewell address that the American people are in charge of our government:  "Ours was the first revolution in the history of mankind that truly reversed the course of government, and with three little words:  "We the People."  "We the People" tell the government what to do; it doesn't tell us."

                    What will "We the People" do now that the 2012 election is over?  I know that many people are tired of politics and want to talk about other subjects, but I believe it is important for all of us to stay involved.  I feel confident that there are many actions that we can take to honor our public trust and promote conservative public policies, and I suggest a few ideas. 

1. We can strengthen our homes and families - physically, spiritually, fiscally, emotionally, and mentally - and prepare ourselves and families to survive the coming bad times.

2.  We can strengthen our own faith in God and help others to strengthen their own faith in Him.

3. We can continue to petition our Heavenly Father to bless and protect our Republic.  We can follow the example of Mitt Romney and pray for President Obama.  We can pray that he sees the errors of his policies and returns to constitutional principles. 

                    4. We can become/remain well-informed citizens by studying history and getting our news from multiple news sources instead of "burying our heads in the sand" and proclaiming "all is well."

 

5. We can identify and expose the "secret combinations" in our midst, those people and organizations that are working to "fundamentally change" our nation.  I believe that much of the mainstream media (MSM) qualifies as being one of them.  They do not give us the news but simply tell us what they want us to hear.  They must be exposed, and their power must be destroyed.   Rich Noyes, research director for the Media Research Center, published an article detailing the ways that the MSM tipped the scales in favor of Obama:  1) The media hammered Romney on inconsequential or invented controversies and hyped them for multiple days while at the same time ignoring or glossing over Obama's gaffes.  2) The "media fact-checkers attacked Republicans as liars for statements that were accurate" while ignoring every Obama lie.  3) The biased debate moderators loaded the discussion with a liberal agenda and then repeatedly interrupted the Republicans while answering.  4) The media kept "the lid on the boiling Benghazi story until Election Day" preventing voters from actually knowing the truth before casting their vote for their commander-in-chief.  5) The failing US economy should have kept Obama from a second term, but the MSM buried how bad it really is and kept Obama's supporters believing that it was all "Bush's fault".

6. We can work in our own communities and states - particularly among minorities - to promote conservative principles such as American exceptionalism, free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and strong national defense.  

I encourage you to make a commitment today as to what you will do to protect and defend our Constitution.  I will continue studying history and current events and sharing what I learn with you; in addition, I will do all that I can do to strengthen faith in God, to educate my family and friends, and to promote true conservative principles.
