Impeachment Threats

                What are the chances that Barack Obama will be impeached?  Only two Presidents in the history of the United States have been impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives, Bill Clinton and Andrew Johnson; however, neither of them left office because the Senate did not vote to convict them.  Richard Nixon resigned the office of President before he could – and probably would have – been impeached.

Many people have been disturbed by the way Barack Obama has usurped authority and made numerous end runs around Congress.  He seems to enjoy testing Congress by the way he “rules” by executive orders.  It is quite obvious that he does not like the United States Constitution.  More threats of impeachment are increasing in the past month as “discussions” about gun control have occurred. 

An Article of Impeachment has already been filed against Obama by “citizens” for “sedition against the Constitution.”  Alex Jonesreported, “There can no longer be any doubt – the forces of tyranny are running wild across our once great Republic.  The time has come for all good men and women to rally to the aid of their country.  We have now entered a historic crossroads that will decide the destiny of the United States.  Arrogance and corruption has long festered in Washington DC, but the last decade has seen an extreme acceleration of criminal looting and attacks on liberty – every freedom is under sustained assault….

                “Articles of Impeachment Against Barack Hussein Obama – Filed by Citizen Alexander Emric Jones, January 15, 2013.  He has clearly communicated his intent to eviscerate the second amendment rights of American citizens by pursuing executive orders to curtail the right to keep and bear arms without congressional authorization and in violation of the second amendment.” 

The following offenses were listed:  1) “He aided America’s enemies, violating his oath, by sending funds to insurgents in Syria who are being commanded by Al-Qaeda terrorists.”  2) He has violated federal law by overseeing a cover-up surround Operation Fast and Furious….” 3) “He has lied to the American people by overseeing a cover-up of the Benghazi attack which directly led to the deaths of four American citizens….” 4)  “He has brazenly undermined the power of Congress by insisting his authority came from the United Nations Security Council prior to the attack on Libya and that Congressional approval was not necessary….”  5) “He has ignored Congressional rejection of the cyber security bill and instead indicated he will pursue an unconstitutional executive order.”  6) “He has signed into law the National Defense Authorization Act which includes provisions that permit the abduction and military detention without trial of U.S. citizens, violating Habeas Corpus….  7) He has enacted universal health care mandates that force Americans to buy health insurance, a clear violation of the Constitution in exceeding congressional power to regulate interstate commerce….”  8) “He has declared war on America’s coal industry by promising to bankrupt any company that attempts to build a new coal plant while using unconstitutional EPA regulations to strangle competition….”  9) “He has violated the Constitution’s Takings and Due Process Clauses when he bullied the secured creditors of automaker Chrysler into accepting 30 cents on the dollar while politically connected labor unions and preferential others received better deals.”  10) “He has violated Article II of the Constitution by using signing statements as part of his executive usurpation of power.”

“For these, and other offenses which constitute high crimes and misdemeanors, including perjury of oath, abuse of authority, bribery, intimidation, misuse of assets, failure to supervise, dereliction of duty, conduct unbecoming and refusal to obey a lawful order, we call for the immediate impeachment of Barack H. Obama.”

                U.S. Representative SteveStockman  issued a statement that he would take action against Obama if the President attempts to make an end run around Congress by issuing Executive Orders against the Second Amendment.  “The White House’s recent announcement they will use executive orders and executive actions to infringe on our constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms is an unconstitutional and unconscionable attack on the very founding principles of this republic.  I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary, including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment.”

                Alan Caruba in his article “Obamais Begging for Impeachment”  wrote that “A constitutional crisis is looming.  Only the Congress has the power to pass laws.” 

                “I am not a Constitutional scholar, but I am aware of the consequences of past executive orders.  The nation now has a rogue government agency, the Environmental Protection Agency, by virtue of an executive order by President Nixon.  Later, President Carter reorganized the executive branch and created a separate Department of Education. . Currently, executive orders permit the President to seize control of the entire nation in the event of an attack or the declaration of a national emergency.

                “Now we are told that President Obama is planning to issue up to nineteen executive orders to do an end run around Congress and the Second amendment on the issue of gun control….

                “Former Attorney General Edwin Meese recently went on record to say that the proposed executive orders would be an `impeachable offense.’  There is a growing chorus of resistance to Obama’s `imperial presidency’, but whether it is the executive orders or a judgment rendered by a forthcoming Supreme Court conference, it would appear that Obama has over-reached.

                “The Supreme Court has scheduled a conference – not a hearing – regarding a case that challenges President Obama’s eligibility to be President….  If the justices were to favor elevating the case to a hearing that found Obama guilty, he could face impeachment hearings or possibly be summarily removed from office by Congress…."

                The charges against him are “using a last name not legally his, forged a Selective Service application, forged a long form and short form birth certificate, and a Connecticut Social Security number, 042-68-4425, which was never assigned to him according to E-Verify and SSNVS.”

“The conference is scheduled for February 15, 2013… 

“A hearing could generate a Constitutional crisis that could lead to Obama’s impeachment and removal.  It would mean that Obama was ineligible to run for office for both terms and would render his previous executive orders and the laws that he signed null and void….

“A constitutional crisis is looming.  Only the Congress has the power to pass laws.  If the President ignores Congress and issues executive orders that impose new restrictions on the Second Amendment, the people of the United States will have lost the power of the Constitution to protect them.  There are already legislators prepared to initiate impeachment proceedings if he does.”
