Constitution Is Supreme

                The topic of discussion for this Constitution Monday comes from Article VI, Section 2:  Speaking of the Constitution, this section continues with “… and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.”  According to this provision, the American people could depend on the Constitution to guarantee all their rights and privileges.

                According to W. Cleon Skousen, this provision was “directed to the judges of the states” and it refers to the “Constitution or laws OF ANY STATE.” “Finally, we are assured that this is a correct interpretation by another provision in the Constitution itself:  if a treaty could change, alter, or otherwise amend the Constitution, it would nullify and completely circumvent the entire amendment process provided in Article V.”  (See The Making of America – The Substance and Meaning of the Constitution, p. 662.)
