Rudy and Barack

Rudy Giuliani was mayor of New York City on September 11, 2001, and immediately took charge of the situation.  He was a hero in every sense of the word then, and he became a hero again recently when he said what many people have thought for a long time.  While attending a small private dinner, including Scott Walker and “about 60 right-leaning business executives and conservative media types,” Giuliani openly questioned if Barack Obama “loves America” while discussing Mr. Obama’s patriotism, foreign policy decisions and attitude toward terrorists.

“I do not believe, and I know this is a horrible thing to say, but I do not believe that the president loves America,” Giuliani said during the dinner at the 21 Club, a former Prohibition-era speakeasy in midtown Manhattan.  “He doesn’t love you.  And he doesn’t love me.  He wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up through love of this country.”

The Politico story continued, “With Walker sitting just a few seats away, Giuliani continued by saying that `with all our flaws we’re the most exceptional country in the world.  I’m looking for a presidential candidate who can express that, do that and carry it out.’
“`And if it’s you Scott, I’ll endorse you,’ he added.  `And if it’s somebody else, I’ll support somebody else.’”

Ed Lasky, contributor at American Thinker, claims that “`America’s Mayor’ Rudy Giuliani was right about Obama not loving America.  Who supports his view?  Barack Obama himself….
“Barack Obama has clearly been, at best, an apologist for Islamic terrorism, if not empowering Muslim terrorists (such as the mullahs of Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood).  Of course, now the question of Obama’s patriotism has become this week’s Gotcha question.  Scott Walker was ambushed by the same question and answered `I don’t know’ if Obama loves America.  Well, Obama knows the answer.  Reporters don’t even need to ask Obama since he would answer with some political pabulum scripted by his spinners.  Reporters just need to do a few minutes of research – or, I offer my own research free of charge.
“Because Obama has answered that question and has done so numerous times over the past 7 years.  He not only does not love America, he doesn’t even like it much – and certainly has no interest in defending America or Americans for that matter.”

Lasky continues his article by a list of ways that Mr. Obama has shown his lack of love for America and Americans:  (1) a picture of Mr. Obama in Iowa – everyone else in the picture had their hand over their heart, Mr. Obama had his hands clasped together; (2) Mr. Obama’s comment about Americans being “bitter” and clinging to “guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations;” (3) Michelle Obama’s comment that she “had never been proud of her country until Barack Obama achieved some early campaign success;” (4) the way he continually insults Americans for being “soft,” “lazy,” “abusers of the planet,” “lost our ambition,” “whiners,” “greedy,” “ knuckleheads,” and fail to say “thank you” to him.

Mr. Obama does not only insult Americans, but he insults our allies as well:  (1) sending the bust of Winston Churchill back to Great Britain; (2) his “apology tour” overseas soon after he was elected; (3) his assault on truth.

I too believe that Mayor Giuliani was correct when he said Mr. Obama does not love America.  As a wise person or wise people have said many times, no one sets out to “fundamentally transform” something they love.  If a man truly loves his wife, he does not try to “transform” into someone else.  If a parent truly loves their child, they do not try to change them into something else.  If we truly love our country, we love it as it is – warts and all; we try to make it better without totally destroying it first.  I do not believe Mr. Obama or those surrounding him love America.
