Interdependence

                We can strengthen our families, communities, and nations by teaching the rising generation about the true interdependence between males and females in our society.  We should teach our children and grandchildren the importance of men and women working together for strong families.  We should teach them that neither the man nor the woman is the most important in a marriage because they should be equal partners.

                Blogger Chelsea Dyreng had an interesting conversation with her six-year-old son who thought men were more important than women.  She then used an open letter to her son to teach him why men and women are equally important.  

                Ms. Dyreng wrote the following in her letter to her son:  “I have thought a lot about this since [our conversation], and I have tried to see through your eyes.  You have been taught that you have an all-powerful Heavenly Father and a Savior, Jesus Christ.  Add to that a pretty swell dad, and I would probably come to the same conclusion if I were you.  How could any woman compete with this trifecta of male awesomeness?

                “In your mind, there must be a hierarchy.  But men and women were meant to be yoked, not ranked.  Remember the way Jesus treated women?  The only parent Jesus was related to by blood was a woman (Mary), the first person He told He was the Christ was a woman (the woman from Samaria), and the first person He appeared to as a resurrected being was a woman (Mary Magdalene).  Jesus trusted women and He depended on them.

                “He still does.”
