First Amendment Rights in Danger

One year ago Democratic prosecutors were out to get anyone who denied that climate change was real. This attempt was described by constitutional experts as “one of the more egregious attacks on the First Amendment in U.S. history.” Much of this initiative had evaporated, but it is still endangering First Amendment rights.

According to M.D. Kiddle at The Heritage Foundation, Sam Kazman, general counsel for The Competitive Enterprise Institute said, “While pretending that this was a law enforcement investigation, [New York Attorney General Eric] Schneiderman made clear that he was pushing a policy agenda - `to defend the climate change progress made under President Obama and to push the next president for even more aggressive action.”

There is hope. President Donald Trump is obviously moving forward with his promise to unravel the power given to the Environmental Protection Agency by Barack Obama. He has already signed Executive Orders to boost energy production in both the oil and coal industries. One of the biggest things to come out of the climate change hoopla is the enriching of Al Gore and his cohorts. Hopefully, any dangers faced by our First Amendment rights will soon be gone.
