Goodness of Americans

            I searched in vain for something to write about in this post. I find little interesting about what is in the news today. I am not at all interested in anything that Hillary Clinton says or does. As far as I am concerned, Hillary is irrelevant and should fade away. The only thing that I want to hear about her is that she has been tried and found guilty of treason. As for news about Chelsea Clinton, I cannot for the life of me figure out why she is in the news at all because she has accomplished nothing worthy of the ink to print or the time to read about her.

            I have heard and read all the Trump-bashing that I wish to hear. It seems to me that President Trump can do nothing to earn good comments from the politicians or the media. It is not only the President that is being bashed, it is also his wife. Why in the world do people need to talk about what shoes she wears to a hurricane zone? If she wants to wears spike heels, more power to her! Then there are the rude and crude comments about the newborn grandson! Even the Miss America Program and the Emmys are no more than Trump-bashing fests! What is the matter with people today?

            I finally found some good news in an article about the Brigham Young University-University of Wisconsin Madison football game in Provo, Utah. It seems that the Wisconsin fans were “stunned” by the treatment that they received from the BYU fans at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Saturday. Even though BYU did not make a good showing on the football field, their fans made a great impression in the stands. The Badger fans that traveled from numerous states were treated with much kindness. BYU rolled out the red carpet for their visitors and even treated them with free cups of ice cream from the BYU Creamery. BYU fans even stopped to talk with the Wisconsin fans and to welcome them to the city. These are some of the comments made about the BYU experience.

They are friendly people. It’s been great. No complaints at all.

            Can you even imagine? BYU fans were friendly with the Wisconsin fans! There were no fights or brawls, no bricks thrown, and no violence! In fact, there were just people getting together to enjoy a football game and to enjoy the company of other people – the way America is supposed to be.

            This reminds me of Texas after Hurricane Harvey hit. No one cared about the color of the skin or the sexual orientation or the religion of anyone. They just saw people in trouble and reached out to help. The people are still there, helping wherever there is a need. One good thing to come from the hurricane disasters is that riots and violence lost their media coverage.

            The truth came out! America is not full of racists and haters. America is full of good people who go about doing good things. I hope that we will hear more of the good news by the vast majority of Americans and less of the bad news caused by a small minority. To quote Glenn Beck from long ago, “America is great because America is good!”
