Secret Combinations

            Our topic of discussion for this Constitution Monday concerns secret combinations and the destruction they can cause in just societies. We will read the words of ancient prophets and consider the words of a modern Christian. We will conclude by comparing ancient America with our day and see that we face similar situations.

            Let’s start the conversation by defining the term secret combination. Google defines secret as both an adjective. As an adjective, it is defined as follows: “not known or seen or not meant to be known or seen by others: `how did you guess I had a secret plan?’” Synonyms are confidential, top secret, classified, undisclosed, unknown, private, or under wraps. As a noun secret is defined as “something that is kept or meant to be kept unknown or unseen by others.” Example: “a state secret.” Synonyms are confidential matter, confidence, or private affair.

            Google defines combination as a noun with two meanings. The first definition is “a joining or merging of different parts or qualities in which the component elements are individually distinct.” An example is: “a combination of blackberries, raspberries, and rhubarb.” Synonyms are amalgamation, amalgam, merger, merging, blend, mixture, mix fusion, marriage, coalition, integration, incorporation, synthesis, composite, or informal combo. Another example is “a combination of ancient and modern.” The second definition has to do with a combination lock and not applicable to this discussion.

            So, using the definitions of secret and combination and/or their synonyms, we can come up with the following definition of secret combination: an undisclosed or unknown coalition or incorporation.

            The term secret combination is well-known to any student of the Book of Mormon – Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Secret combinations are credited with the destruction of both the Jaredite nation and the Nephite nation in ancient America. Moroni, the last prophet to write in the Book of Mormon, wrote: “And they [secret combinations] have caused the destruction of this people of whom I am now speaking [Jaredites], and also the destruction of the people of Nephi” (Ether 8:21). 

            The Book of Mormon also warns about secret combinations being found in all nations in the latter days. While discussing our time period, the prophet Nephi wrote:

20 And the Gentiles [meaning us] are lifted up in the pride of their eyes, and have stumbled ….

22 And there are also secret combinations, even as in time of old, according to the combinations of the devil, for he is the founder of all these things; yea, the founder of murder, and works of darkness; yea, and he leadeth them by the neck with a flaxen cord, until he bindeth them with his strong cords forever (2 Nephi 26:20, 22). 

            Nephi was not the only prophet to warn of secret combinations in our day. Moroni gave the following warning:

20 And now I, Moroni, do not write the manner of their oaths and combinations, for it hath been made known unto me that they are had among all people….

22 And whatsoever nation shall uphold such secret combinations, to get power and gain, until they shall spread over the nation, behold, they shall be destroyed; for the Lord will not suffer that the blood of his saints, which shall be shed by them, shall always cry unto him from the ground for vengeance upon them and yet he avenge them not.

23 Wherefore, O ye Gentiles [speaking to us], it is wisdom in God that these things should be shown unto you, that thereby ye may repent of your sins, and suffer not that these murderous combinations shall get above you, which are built up to get power and gain – and the work, yea, even the work of destruction come upon you, yea, even the sword of the justice of the Eternal God shall fall upon you, to your overthrow and destruction if ye shall suffer these things to be.

24 Wherefore, the Lord commandeth you, when ye shall see these things come among you that ye shall awake to a sense of your awful situation, because of this secret combination which shall be among you; … (Ether 8:20, 22-24). 

            We have defined secret combination, discussed the destruction of the Nephite and Jaredite nations because of secret combinations, and read the warning of ancient prophets for the people of our day. With the above knowledge, I am sure that you can understand why I felt apprehension when I read a recent article. The article is attributed to Charles Krauthammer, but Snopes says that it was actually written by Christian journalist Bill Wilson. It does not actually matter who wrote the article. What matters is whether or not it is true! If it is true, then the United States of America – and the world – is in deep, deep trouble. The first two paragraphs of Wilson’s article follows.

If you had an army some 30,000 strong and a court system stacked over the decades with judges who would allow you to break the laws, how much damage could you do to a country? We are about to find out in America. The ex-“president” said he was going to stay involved through community organizing and speak out on the issues, and that appears to be one post-administration promise he intends to keep. He has moved many of his administration’s top dogs over to an organization called Organizing for Action (OFA). OFA is behind the strategic and tactical implementation of the Marxist resistance we are seeing across America, and politically active courts are providing the leverage for this revolution.

OFA is dedicated to organizing communities for progressive change, meaning Marxist revolution. Issues are gun control, socialist healthcare, abortion, sexual equality, climate change, and of course, immigration reform. OFA members were propped up by the ex-“president’s” message from the shadows: “Organizing is the building block of everything great we’ve accomplished. Organizers around the country are fighting for change in their communities – and OFA is one of the groups on the front lines … Commit to this work in 2016 and beyond.” OFA’s website says it obtained its "digital” assets from the ex-“president’s” re-election effort and that he inspired the movement. In short, it’s the shadow government organization aimed at resisting and tearing down the Constitutional Republic, picking up where Communist Party America leaves off.

            Riots and other unrest have taken place on a regular schedule since Hillary Clinton lost the presidential election. Liberal media, legislators, lawyers, and judges have thrown up road blocks to every turn that President Donald Trump has taken. You name it, and you will know that liberals have opposed it: tax reform, illegal immigration, court orders stopping Trump from limiting immigration from certain countries, etc. At the same time, they have the “Russian probe” taking place in attempt to remove Trump from office.

            The secret combinations in the Book of Mormon killed their “chief judges” [like our President]. They murdered the prophets who came among them calling them to repentance. They caused great destruction in their communities. They actually destroyed the government of the land, and they were the cause of the total destruction of their civilizations. The article by Wilson and the writings of the prophets in the Book of Mormon sound too similar to disregard. America, we have been warned!
