One Administration at a Time

            The topic of discussion for this Constitution Monday is the simple fact that the U.S. Constitution allows only one administration at time to do the business of the nation. This principle has been in force since the beginning of the nation, but it is now being challenged. It seems as though the Obama administration is still trying to be in charge of national business. There are numerous examples to draw from, but I will just use the most recent one.

            Since President Donald Trump made his declaration about Jerusalem, there has been no communication between the White House and the Palestinian Authority (PA). However, the Obama administration stays in contact with PA officials. John Kerry, secretary of state under Obama, recently met Hussein Agha in London. Agha is a close associate of PA President Mahmoud Abbas. A senior PA official confirmed that the meeting took place.

            Apparently, Kerry used disrespectful terms for President Trump, while he suggested that Trump would not be in office for a long time. In fact, he said that “within a year there was a good chance that Trump would not be in the White House.” Kerry sent a message to Abbas to “hold on and be strong … that he should stay strong in his spirit and play for time, that he will not break and will not yield to President [Donald] Trump’s demands.”

            Kerry went so far as to offer his help to the Palestinians to advance the peace process. “He promised to use all his contacts and all his abilities to get support for such a plan.” He suggested that Abbas “concentrate on personal attacks on Trump himself” because Trump – not the US or the Trump administration – “is solely and directly responsible for the situation.”

            It sounds to me like there are some traitors among us! As far as I am concerned, John Kerry just committed treason in going against the Trump administration.
