Agent Strzok and Congress

FBI agent Peter Strzok took the witness stand before the Oversight and Judiciary Committees last week. It was obvious from his angry outbursts that he does not believe that he did anything wrong and that he considers himself to be better than the Republicans who were grilling him on his performance. His contempt for them was written upon his face and sounded with every angry outburst. He apparently considered himself to be smarter than anyone else in the room.

While Republicans were trying to drag truth from the contemptuous agent, Democrats were running protection for him. One even claimed that he deserved a medal of honor. Patricia McCarthy describes the behavior of the Democrats as follows.

Strzok was treated as a hero by the Democrats on the two committees. One of them said he deserves a Purple Heart! What an insult to every veteran and all those who actually earned Purple Hearts. They even applauded once at his faux passion in his own defense, which included his antipathy for Trump. They were despicable, each and every one of them. There is not a shred of ethics, class, or grace among those Democrats, who did everything in their power to distract from Strzok’s obvious guilt and complicity and the grand plan of high-placed anti-Trumpers.

It is apparent to any honest person that Strzok is no hero. He has embarrassed the FBI and honest FBI agents, and he should be embarrassed himself. He has definitely destroyed the trust that Americans once felt for the FBI. McCarthy is right to denounce the Democrat who suggested that he receive a Purple Heart. The Purple Heart Organization describes this medal in the following statement on their web page.

The Purple Heart is awarded to members of the armed forces of the U.S. who are wounded by an instrument of war in the hands of the enemy and posthumously to the next of kin in the name of those who are killed in action or die of wounds received in action. It is specifically a combat decoration.

The Democrat in question is dishonest, inept or totally stupid to compare what Strzok has done to a recipient of the Purple Heart. As McCarthy said, it was a true insult to the real heroes. McCarthy is not the only person decrying the lack of ethics and class among the Democrats on the two committees. Russ Vaughn describes their behavior as follows.

… In Thursday’s congressional hearings featuring the FBI figure central to all of these hopes, Peter Strzok, the Dems showed the world just how willing they are to engage in some major obstruction of their own to prevent House Republicans from investigating the investigator. While their behavior may not rise to criminality, it certainly robbed the American people of a full opportunity to hear Strzok’s responses to penetrating and pointed Republican questioning.

Time after time, when Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee tried to pin down the unctuous, slippery Strzok, some Democrat member or other would break into the questioning to raise a superfluous objection that broke the line of questioning and refocused attention away from the legitimate target – a corrupt FBI investigation, or rather multiple corrupt FBI investigations – relieving the frequently beleaguered subject of the committee’s immediate focus….

As far as I know, McCarthy and Vaughn are two ordinary Americans who have shared their views of the performances of Strzok and the Democrats who protected him. However, their views are shared by many others. Even talking heads at CNN say that Strzok’s texts with his alleged mistress are “damning” and show his “bias” against Donald Trump.

The Democrats in Congress should be serving the American people, not protecting a rogue FBI agent. The fact that they are fighting against the truth so fiercely shows that they are protecting more than Strzok. Could they be protecting Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama?
