Rights for Illegal Aliens

            The topic of discussion for this Constitution Monday concerns people who are illegally in the United States and their rights. Do they have the same constitutional rights as American citizens? No, they do not have the same constitutional rights as citizens of the United States. However, they do have some rights. They also do not have the right to receive the same benefits that are available to American citizens.


            Illegal aliens have freedom of speech and freedom of religion. They have the right to be represented by counsel but not the right to a government-paid attorney. They have the right to life, but they do not have the natural right to reside in the United States. They do not have the right to welfare benefits, but they do have the right to emergency medical care.
