What Are Republicans For?

Joe Biden was elected by voters who voted for “anyone but Trump” and not Democrat policies. Biden shared few policies during the presidential campaign, instead campaigning on “not being Trump.” Well, our nation is suffering from the policies forced upon us by Democrats.

In recent speeches and press conferences, Biden has asked, “What are Republicans for?” Republicans obstruct Biden’s agenda because it is a terrible agenda that is bad for America. So, what are Republicans for? I have read numerous statements to answer the question. A simple answer to the questions is: Republicans are for “free enterprise, equal opportunity, freedom from big government, and the protection of constitutional rights.”

Representative Chris Stewart (R-UT) claims that “Republicans are for freedom,” and “Proof of that statement can be found right here in Utah.”

If anyone wants to see a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, look no further than Utah. If anyone wants to see one-party rule under a government that is not beholden to the people, look no further than Washington, D.C.

In one way or another, we are all still coping with the aftereffects of the pandemic. And in this unprecedented time, President Biden repeatedly tells us that we must accept greater government interference in our lives. This is the very thing the Founding Fathers sought to minimize.

Thankfully, our great state understands that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capital cannot plan the lives of Utahns better than we can plan them ourselves.

In a time of great fear and uncertainty, Utah’s state Legislature has remained steadfast at every turn. I hope the people of Utah recognize that work, as well as the resolve required to stand in opposition to a president who is blindly committed to a one-size-fits-all approach.

Utah’s state leaders have protected your right to earn a living. They have protected your right to make your own medical decisions. They have kept our school open. They have allowed our kids to continue in-person learning. And they refuse to be bullied into abiding by the philosophy of so many Washington Democrats: Mandate, mandate, mandate.

While many other states trample the rights of individuals, Utah has been a vanguard of freedom. And while many other states continue to churn out reckless, ineffective policies in the pursuit of a “new normal,” Utah is simply being normal.

Most states that have Republican governors and legislatures are doing well despite the COVID-19 pandemic moving into its third year, despite the terrible economy brought about by Biden’s policies, despite the rampant crime in our nation, despite the fact that two million people have entered our nation illegally in the past year.

I hope that the hearts of the “Never Trumpers” have been softened and that they have opened their eyes to see the realty brought to America by Democrats. Biden and his administration have taken American down a rough and bumpy road, and we are not off that road yet. However, it appears that Biden has no intention of turning the country around and putting it on the road to freedom, peace, and security.

Hopefully, America has learned its lesson about voting for Democrats and will put Republicans in control of Congress in 2022 and back in the White House in 2024. I hope also that Republicans will prove that they can do a better job of protecting and preserving our constitutional rights.
