Why Is Mayorkas Building a Border Wall Now?

It is about time!  Department of Homeland Security Secretary (DHS) Alejandro Mayorkas has finally seen the light. He now recognizes that the United States has an “acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers” and roads along America’s borders to prevent invasion by illegal immigrants. Alex Nitzberg at The Blaze reported the following: 

“There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas,” Mayorkas declared in a document filed on the Federal Register. While the document is currently available to read, the Federal Register website describes it as “unpublished,” but indicates that it is slated to be published on Thursday.

“The United States Border Patrol’s (Border Patrol) Rio Grande Valley Sector is an area of ‘high illegal entry.’ As of early August 2023, Border Patrol had encountered over 245,000 such entrants attempting to enter the United States between ports of entry in the Rio Grande Valley Sector in Fiscal Year 2023,” Mayorkas noted. “Therefore, I must use my authority under section 102 of IIRIRA to install additional physical barriers and roads in the Rio Grande Valley Sector.”

Mayorkas is waiving various laws in order to achieve the objectives discussed in the document.

It is good for America that Mayorkas has finally come to the realization that border barriers are necessary to protect the sovereignty of America. However, one may ask, “Why now?” Massive numbers of immigrants have crossed America’s borders illegally over the past three years, but the Biden administration did not seem to care.

Could it be that seven million illegal immigrants are enough to “fundamentally change” America? Has the damage already been done, so they can act like they are caring for America now? Or is it because Democrat mayors and governors – like those of New York and New York City – are finally saying, “Stop! Do something!”

Whatever the reason for the sudden concern for the millions of people flowing over our borders, Donald Trump has the right to take a victory lap. He was right once again, as he so often has been. This is shown in this statement from the Trump campaign.

“President Trump is always right,” the former president’s campaign declared in a statement, according to Fox News Digital. “That’s why he built close to 500 miles of powerful new wall on the border and it would have been finished by now. Instead, Crooked Joe Biden turned our country into one giant sanctuary for dangerous criminal aliens.”

Mayorkas’s decision to build more border wall may be “Too little, too late,” but it is good that he can finally see the situation for what it is.
