The liberty principle for this
Freedom Friday concerns the fact that I have not seen the face of a certain
young man from the Florida high school on Facebook or in my email. I personally
was tired of looking at his angry eyes and being told that I am a terrible
person – adult, white, NRA member, gun owner, Christian.
I am seeing instead young men and
women who are not in favor of stricter gun control. They are honest enough to
recognize that it was not the gun the caused the massacre in Florida. They know
that it was a young man who is mentally ill who pulled the trigger. They know
that several government agencies failed on multiple occasions to help the young
man. They know that it had nothing to do with the National Rifle Association.
Zachary Schneider, a student at Woodland Park High School in Colorado participated in a pro-Second
Amendment walkout at his school. He said that he did so in order to demonstrate
that not all students are calling for tougher gun control laws. “It’s all over
the news right now that all students hate guns. I wanted to show that not all
students feel that way.”
More and more pro-Second Amendment
students are speaking up and being heard. Good for them. We need their voices
and their strength. We must protect and preserve our right to defend ourselves.
