Sarah Huckabee Sanders

I chose Sarah Huckabee Sanders as my VIP for this week because I am saddened to hear that she will be stepping down as White House press secretary at the end of June. Sanders is one of my heroines because she is intelligent, knowledgeable, capable, and refuses to take guff. I have enjoyed watching her as she respectfully exposes fools, such as Jim Acosta and April Ryan.
I whole-heartedly agree with this description of Sanders by Patricia McCarthy.

Sarah Sanders has been the finest, most engaging press secretary since Tony Snow.  She will be sorely missed by those of us who early on came to admire her grace under fire and to respect her ability to field questions from the same people who behaved so monstrously on Friday.  She is extraordinarily quick-thinking and often very funny.  She made watching the White House press briefings entertaining, for she did not suffer fools gladly, and most of the W.H. press corps behave like ill-mannered fools, especially Jim Acosta and April Ryan.  Each of them is old enough to know better, to have learned somewhere along the line to have respect for others, but these two and many of their colleagues as well have not learned the basics of polite society.

I can understand why Sanders would want to leave the hectic life that she lives in the White House and return to Arkansas to spend more time with her three children. I hope that we see more of her in the political realm in future years, and I wish much peace in her life for the time being. She has earned a well-deserved rest!
