Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, released the Democrats' 1990-page health care proposal last week. It is 620 pages longer than the government-run plan proposed by Hilary Clinton in 1993.
House Republican Leader John Boehner used only 568 words to tell us what is wrong with the Democrat plan (
Byron York at www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/blogs/beltway-confidential/Gop-on-health-care-In-568-words…). The basic reason he gave: "It'll require thousands of new federal employees. It'll put unelected boards, bureaus, and commissions in charge of who gets access to what drug and what potentially life-saving treatment."
Boehner offered four good proposals for improving American health care. They are:
1. "Let families and businesses buy health insurance across state lines." This would bring instant competition and quickly lessen the cost of insurance.
2. "Allow individuals, small businesses, and trade associations to pool together and acquire health insurance at lower prices, the same way large corporations and labor unions do today." This too would lower the cost of health insurance.
3. "Give states the tools to create their own innovative reforms that lower health care costs." This would allow states to exercise authority under Amendment 10 in the Bill of Rights: "The power not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
4. "End junk lawsuits that contribute to higher health care costs by increasing the number of tests and procedures that physicians sometimes order not because they think it's good medicine, but because they are afraid of being sued." This simply makes good sense!
Boehner said that these plans were first released in June and that at least eight bills have been introduced in the past six months that would implement this blueprint (healthcare.gop.gov), but the Democrats refuse to pass the bills.
The people of the United States have indicated over and over that we do not want this new health care program that is being forced upon us by the Democrats. The Republicans have offered alternate ideas that would solve the main health care problems in our nation. The Democrats wrote a program that takes 1990 pages to do the job they want to accomplish.
I heard a comparison that I would like to share, but I might get some numbers wrong. The United States Constitution was written in four pages. The Declaration of Independence took one page. Amendment 19 that gave women the Right to Vote took one page. The Emancipation Proclamation which freed the slaves took fewer than ten pages. The Social Security bill was written in sixty pages.
It is my belief - and that of many other people - that this big deal about health care reform is not even about health insurance but a ploy to gain more control over the people of this nation. The revolution that is taking place in the United States is all about destroying the nation as we know it in order to bring about a "reformation." The revolutionists must destroy the economy of our country before they will have the power to reform it. This health care reform being rushed through is all about power and control. Those who want this bill to pass want to have total control over the people of this nation. This is what the big rush is about. They are trying to get this bill through while they are in control of the legislature - before we can vote some of the bums out!
Please make sure that your representatives in Congress know that you want them to vote NO on this reform. Make sure that they know that you understand this health care reform bill is unconstitutional. Please, please, do not take your Rights and Freedoms for granted. Do whatever you can to defend and sustain the Constitution.
