Susan Rice Scandal

            Susan Rice, the national security adviser for the Obama administration, is in the news once again. If you will remember, Rice went on several news programs and declared that the attacks in Benghazi were caused by a YouTube video. As most of us know by now, she lied. Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Susan Rice lied about the Benghazi attacks to help Obama get re-elected.

            Rice is in the news again because she was politically active with secret material, which is illegal. According to Bloomberg News and Caleb Ecarma at The Daily Signal, Rice was instrumental in the unmasking of several of President-elect Donald Trump’s associates for political purposes. Several Republican lawmakers are speaking out about the latest news about her. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) said that she should be required to “testify under oath” for exposing Trump’s associates. He also said that she should be asked under oath: “Did President Obama ask her to do this? Was this a directive from President Obama?”

            Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) wants to know if she “intentionally mishandled classified material for political purpose.” If so, he wants to know why. He thinks that Congress should look into the incident because she has a history of “political manipulation of national security information.” Senator Graham said that Americans have the right to know if she broke any laws and why.

            Representative Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) said, “Congress needs to get to the bottom of this and the FBI should be investigating whether any laws were broken.” He also mentioned Rice’s “history of deceit.” “That Obama national security adviser Susan Rice is alleged to have been responsible for this unmasking is troubling given her history of deceit and her close relationship with then-President Obama.” He also wants to know if Rice had anything to do with the material being given to the media and who leaked it.

            Former Representative Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) said that the scandal of Rice’s unmasking the Trump associates is “a thousand times worse than Watergate.” If you will remember, Watergate was so terrible that Richard Nixon resigned the office of President of the United States to avoid being impeached.

            The unmasking of law-abiding Americans is serious business. To unmask Americans for political purposes is a felony. I hope Congress gets to the bottom of this scandal and brings justice to those responsible for the unmasking.
