The liberty principle for this
Freedom Friday is the need for many Americans to break free from the liberal
bubble and to start living in the real world. The liberal bubble has been
growing for numerous years. We went through the “politically correct” speech
modifications. Do you remember when “illegal alien” became “undocumented
immigrant” and the LGBT crowd co-opted the perfectly wonderful word of “gay”
(meaning “lighthearted” and “carefree”) and adopted the beautiful rainbow as
their symbol of “gay pride”? Then they went after “marriage.”
The latest example of the fantasy
world of liberals concerns the player protests during the national anthem. After
highly-paid, professional football players decided to use the U.S. flag and the
singing of the national anthem to protest social injustice, fans decided to do
their own protesting. To put it simply, the NFL is feeling the backlash of
allowing their team members to act like spoiled teenagers. The fans are simply
not coming to the games or watching on T.V.
In fact, fans are so ticked off with
the player protests that even reporters are feeling the sting. Peter Schrager, a Fox NFL sideline reporter, was recently kicked out of a cab by a
driver that is no fan of the protests. The cab driver reportedly said, “You can
get out of the car. The NFL is dead to me. The NFL, the fact that these guys
take knees, I will never watch the NFL again.”
It was an eye-opening experience for
the reporter. He now has a “different perspective on issues like the NFL
protests from people who don’t live in liberal coastal areas. The more you talk
to fans who aren’t on the two coasts, the more you aren’t in blue-state
territory, this is a real deal and it is affecting the bottom line… And the
owners are seeing this.”
More and more people are noticing
that life is different when they get outside the liberal bubble. Is it possible
to destroy the bubble so that all liberals will understand that they live in a
fake world? Hopefully, more Americans will come to know the real world includes
many people who are fed up with political correctness and destructive protests.
