Another Problem Caused by Illegal Immigration

            Last week I posted an essay titled “Problems Caused by Illegal Immigration” in which I discussed two problems caused by immigrants coming into our nation illegally. The two problems caused by illegal immigration are dangerous diseases being brought into our nation and welcoming people to our nation that do not want to become true Americans. These are both serious problems that could be greatly decreased by closing the borders.

            A third problem caused by people being in our nation illegally is the theft of social security numbers. The Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) recently published a report covering the years 2012 to 2016 and saying that “39 million instances where names and Social Security numbers on W-2 tax forms did not match the corresponding Social Security records.” Paul Bedard at The Washington Examiner shares the following information. 

The group said that there is a “thriving black market” used by illegal immigrants to get Social Security numbers needed to get a job.

Their report draws attention to a move by former President Barack Obama to stop sending so-called “no match” letters to employers notifying them that numbers used by employees on the wage forms do not match their identity.

The change followed the president’s decision to approve amnesty for some 700,000 younger immigrants let into the U.S. under his Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Some of those have been dubbed “dreamers.”

            Bedard continues by stating that “illegal immigrants compete with low-income Americans for jobs.” It seems that illegals particularly want the Social Security numbers of young children, people who are not yet working or seeking loans, because “this theft is likely to go undetected for years.” This situation causes serious problems when the children reach the age where they start using their number. Bedard shares the following quote from Dale L. Wilcox, executive director and general counsel of IRLI.

This investigation shines a light on the depth of America’s problems as a result of allowing illegal aliens into the country…. It also debunks the idea that being in the country illegally is a victimless crime. Millions of Americans, in many cases children, are having their identities stolen to enable even more criminal activity. Illegal aliens should not reap Social Security benefits that result from the commission of identity theft.

            Theft of Social Security numbers is another serious problem in our nation. I understand that Barack Obama made the above referenced change by executive order, which means that Donald Trump can stop it by his own executive order. However, as Lou Dobbs said in his report, a rogue judge would most likely put a stop to Trump’s executive order and allow the situation to stay the same.

            The only answer to the problems of illegal immigration is to elect more conservatives. With more conservative support, Congress could pass a bill to allow and to pay for a wall on our southern border. Conservatives would, most likely, do something to solve the “dreamer” problem also. This year is no time for conservatives to stay home. Please, make sure that you are registered to vote and VOTE! We must stop people from entering our nation illegally and causing more problems for our citizens!
