Socialism fails wherever it is
allowed to take hold of a nation with Venezuela being the latest example. The
people there have no water except what they can get from the sewage system.
Their electricity system is failing, and the people are starving for lack of
food. Yet there are Americans who want to bring socialism to the United States.
Why in the world do we want to replace our capitalistic system for socialism.
According to this article at The Daily Signal, in the 1960s nations in Africa turned to socialism because they
thought capitalism and colonialism were the same thing.
George
Ayittey recently presented a lecture at The Heritage Foundation titled “How
Socialism Destroyed Africa.” Ayittey is a “senior fellow at the Independent
Institute and founder and president of the Free Africa Foundation. He told the
story of how socialism destroyed Africa as it “spread over Angola, Benin,
Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, Mozambique, Tanzania, and Zambia, among other
nations on the [African] continent.” He told how the nations adopted such
practices as “nationalizing foreign companies and imposing state controls on
rent, prices, imports, and foreign exchange.” He apparently did not mention any
nation where the socialist agenda was successful. Socialism may be the cause
for so many people from Africa migrating to other nations.
According to Ayittey, there are “four
main reasons why socialism failed in Africa:
(1)
“Exploitation and Suppression of the Peasant Majority,” (2) “Administrative
Ineptitude,”
(3)
“Selfishness of Ruling Elites,” and (4) “An Alien Ideology.” He said that “Socialism
as an ideology is alien to Africa” and leaders there failed to “understand
their own African heritage.” He warns
that South Africa could be the next nation to be destroyed by socialism. “South
Africa seeks to repeat the catastrophic mistakes that we made elsewhere in
Africa. You don’t have to go very far from South Africa to see the devastation
that socialism left.”
We must wonder what it is about the
human mind, condition, or experience that causes people to think that socialism
is a good thing. The only answer I can give is that it is Satan’s counterfeit
system to oppose the Lord’s law of consecration. Just like every other
counterfeit that Satan introduces to mankind, it spreads by lies, deceit, and desire
to gain power and influence over other people.
