My VIP for this week is Ricky Gervais, a British comedian who hosted the 77th annual Golden Globe Awards. I have no idea who the man is, and I had never heard of him until he lit up conservative news sources for his introductory comments.
With millions of people watching the event and the room full of famous people, Gervais had the courage to tell them that they should keep their political and/or other opinions to themselves. He basically told the potential award winners that no one was interested in their opinions. For putting the truth right in their faces, he deserves to be my VIP.
So, if you do win an award tonight, don’t
use it as a platform to make a political speech. You’re in no position to
lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most
of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg. So, if you win, come up,
accept your little award. Thank your agent and your god, and [sit down].
Gervais had other interesting comments – insults if they are not true, but his above quoted comments are enough for me. There are too many people who know nothing or next to nothing about what is going on in the world – some of whom are in Congress – and should keep their dumb opinions to themselves.
