Families, communities, and nations are stronger when parents participate in the education of their children. Nationwide, parents are more involved than ever in local education. Many of them jumped in when they learned about critical race theory (CRT). They speak out at school board meetings against CRT, masking of school children, and numerous other topics. A mother in Atlanta, Georgia, filed a federal complaint against the elementary school that her child attended.
According to her attorney Sharese Shields, Kira Posey filed a complaint with the Office for Civil Rights in the U.S. Department of Education because students were being separated into classes based on their race. Posey acted after she discovered that her child and eleven other black students were placed in “black classes” at the local school. Here is what happened according to to an article by Harry Wilmerding.
Last spring, the school’s principal,
Sharyn Briscoe, put the segregation policy in place, arguing the decision was
beneficial to all students, as the school consists predominantly of white
students in a majority white school district, local ABC affiliate WSB-TV
reported.
“What we were so troubled by was not that
she designated the all-black classes on her own accord, but that she didn’t
think to understand why that was discriminatory in 2021 and was rather
defensive about her choice to do that,” Shields told The Daily Caller News
Foundation.
“We’ve lost sleep trying to figure out why
would a person do this,” Posey told WSB-TV.
Posey said she found out about the
segregation policy when she requested her child be placed in a classroom with a
specific teacher, Shields told The Daily Caller News Foundation. Posey’s husband
works at the school, and employees can request specific classrooms for their
children.
“She said that’s not one of the black
classes, and I immediately said, ‘What does that mean?’ I was confused,” Posey
told WSB-TV.
“I asked for more clarification. I was
like, ‘We have those in school?’ And she proceeded to say, ‘Yes, I have decided
that I’m going to place all of the black students in two classes,” she said.
Most thinking adults recognize that
the segregation was illegal. The policies violate Title VI of the Civil Rights
Act of 1964. Posey and her attorney are waiting for the conclusion of the
investigation by the Department of Education. They hope to see the principal
and administrators to lose their jobs with the school district. Neither the Atlanta
Public School System nor the Department of Education responded to a request for
comment from The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Socialists and other progressives took
control of upper education many years ago, and the liberal young adults of our
nation are the product of their teaching. The same people who poisoned the
minds of the young adults now want to poison the minds of students in K-12. The
CRT programs were created to move their designs forward. I am grateful that
parents are now awake and fighting for the souls of their children. Involved
parenting is critical to developing strong families, and strong families are
the foundation for strong communities and nations.
