I chose the mounted Border Patrol agents for my VIPs for this week, particularly the few agents who were accused of “whipping” Haitian migrants at the southern border last year. A photographer took a picture of agents following orders to keep the Haitians from crossing the river into the United States. The left-leaning media and left-wing politicians and celebrities accused the agents of cruelty and treating the Haitians like slaves in bygone days. Even President Joe Biden jumped into the frenzy and declared that the agents would be punished.
After the photos were examined and
more evidence was submitted, most people understood that no whipping took
place. The so-called whips being used by the mounted agents were the divided
reins used to control the horses. Apologies should have been stated, and the
story should have died. However, there was a ten-months long official
investigation. Jarrett Stepman gave the following explanation:
U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s
Office of Professional Responsibility last week released a report on the Border
Patrol incident, finding that the mounted agents hadn’t strapped anyone, but
were guilty anyway and subject to punishment….
The Biden administration’s 500-page report
essentially admits that Border Patrol agents didn’t whip the Haitian migrants,
which had been quite clear to anyone who earnestly examined the photos and
video.
But the administration still threw four
agents under the bus, saying that they acted in an “unprofessional” manner and
engaged in “dangerous” behavior.
Oh, and they used “vulgar” language….
… It’s clear from the repot that the
Border Patrol agents were just doing their jobs under difficult and chaotic
conditions. Were they supposed to do nothing?
