Talk of impeaching President Barack Obama for unconstitutional actions is again floating around on the Internet. There is also more agitation about whether or not he should even be President. These discussions have been taking place for the entire time that he has been in office.
My first thoughts were along this line: Why bother with impeachment proceedings when his term of office is about over? Then I counted the months between now and inauguration day next January - approximately ten months - plenty of time to do lots of damage. Plus, there is still plenty of evidence that he could be re-elected and have four more years to destroy our nation!
I also remember the counsel of Alma, an ancient American prophet. He and his followers had barely escaped the bondage of wicked King Noah and his minions when Alma 's followers expressed their desire that Alma be their king. They loved Alma because he was a good man, and he showed them how righteous he was by refusing to be their king.
"Nevertheless, if it were possible that ye could always have just men to be your kings it would be well for you to have a king."
Alma explained that bondage and oppression often come from the rule of kings and counseled them to "… stand fast in this liberty wherewith ye have been made free, and that ye trust no man to be a king over you"(Book of Mormon - Another Testament of Jesus Christ, Mosiah 23:6-8, 13).
After Alma and his people returned to Zarahemla, righteous King Mosiah suggested changing their government from having a king to be governed by judges. "Now I say unto you, that because all men are not just it is not expedient that ye should have a king or kings to rule over you.
"For behold, how much iniquity doth one wicked king cause to be committed, yea, and what great destruction!...
"And behold, now I say unto you, ye cannot dethrone an iniquitous king save it be through much contention, and the shedding of much blood.
"For behold, he has his friends in iniquity, and he keepeth his guards about him; and he teareth up the laws of those who have reigned in righteousness before him; and he trampleth under his feet the commandments of God;
"And he enacteth laws, and sendeth them forth among his people, yea, laws after the manner of his own wickedness; and whosoever doth not obey his laws he causeth to be destroyed; and whosoever doth rebel against him he will send his armies against them to war, and if he can he will destroy them; and thus an unrighteous king doth pervert the ways of all righteousness" (Mosiah 29:16-17, 22-23).
So what does all this talk about wicked kings have to do with Barack Obama? Even though Obama is technically not a king, he acts like one! He is changing the laws and is surrounded by people who hate the United States and want to "fundamentally change" our nation. Maybe we should consider seriously the possibility of impeaching him and getting him out of office as soon as possible!
Barack Obama was not vetted properly before he campaigned for President in 2008. He sealed all his records - birth, health, school, college, etc. Why would he seal his records unless they contained something that would be detrimental to him? This seems like a normal question to ask. Why didn't the media pursue this line of reasoning? Are the members of the media part of the "guards" around Obama?
If Obama had been properly vetted, there would not be questions about whether or not he is a "naturally born citizen" and qualified for the office. If the questions had been answered fully and completely, 250 members of the Sunshine Tea Party in Arizona would not have gone to Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio to ask him to determine if Barack Obama is eligible to have his name appear on the Arizona ballot.
Dianna Cotter, reporter for Pravda (news organization in Russia ) wrote of her astonishment of the lack of interest in the finding of a "Cold Case Posse" investigating the birth certificate that Obama put out over the Internet as proof that he was born in Hawaii . I too am surprised that main stream media has shown little interest in the findings reported by Sheriff Arpaio at a press conference on March 1, 2012. During this press conference, the Sheriff and his team presented six short videos explaining and documenting their investigation. They "presented a devastating case" that our lame stream media is basically ignoring. I watched the entire press conference and found it very interesting, especially because the team started their investigation with the desire to "clear" the President and ended with finding the birth certificate to be fraudulent. With this finding, they continued their investigation of his Selective Service registration card (military draft card) and found it fraudulent also. The birth certificate and the selective service registration card are Obama's "proof" that he is eligible to be President. Sheriff Arpaio testified that he and his team have found ample reasons to believe that the documents are fraudulent. I found the entire presentation to be very interesting in that the investigative team showed how they "tested" the documents. I encourage you to watch the press conference at this site.
The team did not make any declarations on whether or not Obama is qualified to be President. They only found the documents he used to be fraudulent. There is a fine line between the two because it was President Obama that presented the document to the American people and said it was his birth certificate. The Sheriff's team is continuing the investigation. I hope that we learn soon - once and for all - whether or not he is eligible to even be President!
Now we go to the case for impeachment of President Obama. We all are aware that Obama has been pushing against the restraints of the U.S. Constitution since he became President, and there has been much concern at various levels of government and the people. Recent examples of unconstitutional actions are his sending the military into Libya without approval from Congress, making "recess appointments" when the Senate was not in recess, and sending drones to kill U.S. citizens in foreign lands. In addition, there is also the problem with his Administration allowing guns to "walk" across the border and be used in killing Americans and their attack on freedom of religion. There are many different reasons to consider impeachment of someone!
The latest flap came about on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, when Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey told the Senate Armed Services Committee that they would seek "international permission" before going into Syria and then - maybe - report to Congress.
The Constitution plainly gives this power to Congress. Article I, Section 8, Clause 11 states that "Congress shall have Power … To declare War…." Article I, Section 8, Clause 12 states that "Congress shall have Power … To raise and support Armies…." Article I, Section 8, Clause 13 states that "Congress shall have Power … to provide and maintain a Navy." Article I, Section 8, Clause 14 states that "Congress shall have Power … To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval forces."
Even though the President of the United States is also the Commander-in-Chief of the military, he has to have approval from Congress - not the United Nations or NATO but Congress - to declare war. Having knowledge of the Constitution, Representative Walter Jones (R-N.C.) introduced House Concurrent Resolution 107, which calls for the House of Representatives to start impeachment proceeding if President Obama declares war without congressional approval.
Resolution 107 "calls upon the U.S. House - with the Senate concurring - to prevent President Obama from starting yet another war without Congress declaring war." House Resolution 107 states:
"Expressing the sense of Congress that the use of offensive military force by a President without prior and clear authorization of an Act of Congress constitutes an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under article II, section 4 of the Constitution.
"Whereas the cornerstone of the Republic is honoring Congress's exclusive power to declare war under article I, section 8, clause 11 of the Constitution: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That it is the sense of Congress that, except in response to an actual or imminent attack against the territory of the United States, the use of offensive military force by a President without prior and clear authorization of an Act of Congress violates Congress's exclusive power to declare war under article I, section 8, clause 11 of the Constitution and therefore constitutes an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under article II, section 4 of the Constitution."
This resolution clearly warns Obama of the possibility of facing impeachment proceedings. I am of the opinion that the fear of impeachment is low on Obama's list of concerns. There is a good chance that our military is already working under cover in Syria without the approval of Congress.
