Eighty-four year
old Edwin “Ed” Meese, III, was born to Edwin Meese, Jr. and Leone Meese on
December 2, 1931, in Oakland, California. He received his education at
University of California, Berkeley, UC Berkeley School of Law, and Yale
University. He married Ursula Herrick in 1959.
Meese served with Ronald Reagan
in California and the White House. He started in California governor’s mansion
in 1966 and went to the White House in 1981. He is best known for his service
as U.S. Attorney General in the Reagan administration.
Meese gained prominence as a
conservative leader, thinker, and elder statesman. He joined The Heritage
Foundation in 1988 as the first Ronald Reagan Distinguished Fellow and now has
emeritus status. “His work focused on keeping President Reagan’s legacy of conservative principles alive in public debate and discourse.” Even though he was once a critic of Donald Trump, he has joined the Donald Trump transition team.
