Freedom from RINOs

The topic of discussion for this Freedom Friday is the conservative desire to have a party that is free of people who register as Republicans but who are as liberal as Democrats or Republican In Name Only (RINO). The name that comes readily to my mind is Senator Lisa Murkowski from my own state of Alaska. Two other clear examples are the late Senator John McCain and former Senator Jeff Flake, both from Arizona. The latest example is newly-elected Senator Mitt Romney from Utah.

Readers should understand how I feel about Murkowski, but I still state the obvious: I would like to vote her out of office as quickly as possible! She was appointed as a U.S. Senator by her father Frank Murkowski, former U.S. Senator and then newly-elected Governor. He appointed her to take his seat in the Senate – an unethical move as far as I am concerned. She seems to be more liberal than her good friend Senator Susan Collins of Maine. The two women are the most liberal Republicans in the Senate. However, Murkowski may be the most liberal because Collins eventually voted for Brett Kavanaugh while Murkowski did not. I would like to see Murkowski voted out of office, but I do not have faith that it will happen. Murkowski is kept in office by the liberal voters living the Alaska bush country who control her votes.

McCain was known as “The Maverick” because no one could ever count on his vote. He hated Donald Trump so bad that he was involved in the coup attempt to take Trump down with the Steele dossier. McCain was the person that delivered the dossier to the Department of Justice. He was also the senator that kept Obamacare from being repealed. He was considered to be a moderate, but he seemed to be more liberal to me.

I do not know how they did it, but Arizona sent two such senators to Washington, D.C. However, the people in Arizona seemed to have wised up about Senator Jeff Flake because he did not seek re-election after only one term due to his bad polling. It was Flake who prolonged the Kavanaugh circus by insisting that the FBI complete yet another investigation on him.

I had hopes for a more conservative Senate, but voters in Utah messed up my plan when they elected Mitt Romney to take the seat of Senator Orrin Hatch. I do not know what happened with Utah. They did a good job in sending Mike Lee to the Senate, but they messed up with Romney! Romney immediately started to attack the character of Donald Trump and said that he would continue to call Trump out on any issue where they disagree. In other words, Romney is no more trustworthy than Flake, McCain, or Murkowski but is – at least in my mind -- another so-called moderate or maybe liberal masquerading as a Republican.
