In the midst of the news coverage of the two recent massacres, an unnamed grandmother in Texas persuaded her grandson to get help at a hospital before he did something stupid. Her grandson, William Patrick Williams, was arrested in Lubbock, Texas, “for allegedly contemplating a mass shooting.”
Williams was reported to have purchased
ammunition and rented a room in a hotel from which to commit the murders.
However, he was not able to carry out the murders because his grandmother got
involved after he told her that he had purchased an AK-47 with the plan to “shoot
up” a hotel and “then commit suicide by cop.” His grandmother had enough
influence with him to convince him to get treatment.
U.S. Attorney Nealy Cox reportedly told
CNN: “I want to praise the defendant’s grandmother, who saved lives by
interrupting this plot.” He went on to praise the Lubbock police officers and
federal agents who investigated the situation and arrested Williams.
Hopefully, Williams will receive the help
that he needs to become an honorable and decent member of society. I also hope
that he recognizes how much his grandmother loves him and blesses her for
helping him.
