My VIP for this week is Ron DeSantis, the Governor of Florida. His state is joining Georgia and other states in enacting election reforms. DeSantis signed the reform law live while on “Fox & Friends” last Thursday morning. The Florida law “applies the same ID requirements to absentee voting as to in-person voting.” This law stops the practice of ballot harvesting by allowing only immediate family members collect absentee ballots. In addition, it provides better security for the ballot drop boxes.
The Georgia voter integrity law is
getting all the attention, but other states – such as Texas, Arizona, Wisconsin,
Kentucky, Iowa, and Montana -- are strengthening their own laws. Critics say
that the new laws are suppressing votes, but proponents claim other reasons.
DeSantis is protecting Floridians in
other ways. He has opened his state completely and freeing Floridians to live
normally. Schools have been opened since last Fall as well as businesses. He
has warned Antifa to not go to Florida because there will be consequences for
burning, looting, and murdering. DeSantis puts the Floridians first and stands
up for what is best for his state. He is at the list of possible presidential
candidates for 2024.
