What Are the Charges against Donald Trump?

            My VIP for this week is former President Donald Trump. Today is a dark day in the history of the United States because the Biden FBI raided the home of Trump. In less than two years, the Biden administration took the most powerful nation in the world to the level of a Third World banana republic. Such a thing has never happened previously in the United States.

            Trump announced this evening that a “large group of FBI agents” raided his estate known as Mar-a-Lago located in Palm Beach, Florida. In his statement, Trump said, “After working and cooperating with the relevant government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate.” The FBI not only raided Trump’s home, but they broke into his safe. 

            Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis put out a tweet saying that the raid was “another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against the Regime’s political opponents, while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves.”

            Other Republicans made statements about the raid on Trump’s home. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-California) said that the Justice Department had “reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization.” He added, “When Republicans take back the House, we will conduct immediate oversight of this department, follow the facts and leave no stone unturned.”

            Kevin Roberts, President of The Heritage Foundation, made the following statement: “The raid on Mar-a-Lago represents yet another example of the federal government weaponizing law enforcement to punish political enemies, silence critics, and send a message to those whom it views as enemies…. The Biden administration and the D.C. swamp are making it very clear that they will use all the power of the state to intimidate anyone who stands in their way.”

            Roberts added, “If they think they can treat a former president this way, imagine what they think they can do to the average American. Such actions could only be justified based on overwhelming evidence of wrongdoing. The FBI needs to immediately explain its reckless actions and [President Joe] Biden needs to answer the question of whether he ordered this raid.”
