What Is the Real Threat to the United States?

The liberty principle for this Freedom Friday is how unity is essential to the security of nations. When Abraham Lincoln said, “a house divided against itself cannot stand,” he was speaking about slavery in a campaign speech. However, the statement can apply to the political divisions common in our day. Americans are divided on many issues, such as immigration, abortion, government spending, democracy, and the Constitution.

President Joe Biden had another opportunity to unify America, but he chose to bring even more division to our nation. He gave his non-campaign, sounds-like-campaign speech tonight in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Standing in front of Independence Hall, Biden defined half the nation – the supporters of former President Donald Trump – as illegitimate monsters who are striving to destroy America. In a recent speech, he called conservative Republicans semi-fascists.

This name-calling coming from the man who claims to be the President for all Americans and just weeks after he ordered his Justice Department to raid Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. Even in his fumbling-bumbling delivery, Biden’s message was clear: Anyone who opposes and/or disagrees with the Biden administration are fighting against democracy.

Earlier in the day, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre explained why conservatives are so dangerous: “When you are not with where majority of Americans are, then you know, that is extreme.” The fact that Biden has a 38 percent approval rating says that he does not have the majority of the people with him.

According to Jarrett Stepman, Biden claimed that his political opponents are against the Constitution. This is an ironic statement because it is Democrats – Biden’s party – that are striving to “fundamentally transform” the United States from being a democratic republic to being a socialist state. It is also ironic because Biden is the very person who declared student loan forgiveness, redistributing billions of dollars without constitutional authority.

Like most Democrats – and Liz Cheney, Biden dwells on the January 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol Building – something that Republicans condemn also. However, no Democrat ever mentions the riots that took place in the name of Black Lives Matter in 2020 and how Vice President Kamala Harris raised funds to get those arrested out of jail, so they could riot once again. They never mention Antifa – which Biden calls an “idea” and the businesses smashed by people who were merely “getting carried away.”

Biden or other Democrats never mention the assassination attempt on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh by an abortion activist. They do not even consider the many churches and crisis pregnancy centers that were vandalized after the abortion decision was leaked.

Stepman quoted Biden as saying, “Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threaten the very republic. Democracy cannot survive when one side believes there are only two outcomes to an election: either they win or they were cheated.” Stepman found the statement interesting.

Is that so? What an interesting take from the leader of a party that’s had a significant faction question the electoral legitimacy of every Republican presidential win since 2000. In fact, this was the president’s own press secretary after the 2016 election.

[On December 17, 2017, Karine Jean-Pierre tweeted: “Stolen emails, stolen drone, stolen election … welcome to the world of #unpresidented Trump.” More recently, she tweeted: “Reminder: Brian Kemp stole the gubernatorial election from Georgians and Stacey Abrams.”]

Is the press secretary a threat to democracy or is it just the president’s opponents?

As caustic and at times unhinged Biden’s speech was, it was important in understanding what this administration defines as extreme and intolerable: Basically, anyone who opposes them. …

“MAGA Republicans have made their choice, they embrace anger. They thrive on chaos. They live not in the light of truth but in the shadow of lies,” Biden said.

You heard that? Biden isn’t just saying that his former electoral opponent is bad, he’s saying those who supported him are bad and that they’ve “made their choice.”

Biden did not offer any solutions to the major problems facing the nation, such as the high inflation or millions of people crossing the southern border illegally. Stepman suggested that Biden sprinkled words of unity into his speech “to justify punitive actions toward pollical opponents.” In other words, Biden’s FBI raided Donald Trump’s home because Trump is the “bad orange man.” Biden declared war on half the nation.

Biden claimed to be saving the soul of the nation, while at the same time killing the body of the nation. Whoever voted for this divisive loon to be the President of the United States should be ashamed of themselves. There is no hope of sane thinking for anyone who still supports him.
