The Federal Bureau of Investigation
(FBI) is showing once again that there is no equal justice in the United
States. They raid and/or arrest any pro-life protesters around abortion
clinics, but they turn a blind eye when pregnancy centers and churches are
attacked. Mary Margaret Olohan recently posted three articles about this topic.
On October 5, 2022, Olohan posted an
article titled “FBI Reportedly Raid Home ‘Guns Drawn,’ 11 Pro-Life Activists Charged for Blocking Abortion Clinic.” She reported that the
Department of Justice (DOJ) charged 11 activists with violations of the FACE
Act.
The violations came from a 2021 “blockage”
of a Mount Juliet, Tennessee, abortion clinic. The action was described as “peaceful”
even though it successfully prevented abortion taking place at the clinic for
most of that day. Several activists were arrested on the day of the blockade
but released after posting bail for misdemeanor charges.
Now eleven of the activists have been
arrested and charged with violation of the FACE Act and charged with
conspiracy. The Daily Signal requested comments from the FBI and the U.S.
Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee, but neither
organization have responded to the requests.
On October 6, 2022, Olohan posted an
article titled “Conservatives Accuse DOJ of Targeting Pro-Life Activists.” The article
emphasized that the DOJ is “targeting” pro-life activists, while ignoring attacks against
pro-lifers.
President Joe Biden’s Justice Department
recently arrested Catholic father and pro-life activist Mark Houck, who allegedly
pushed a pro-abortion activist for allegedly harassing his son. On Wednesday,
the Justice Department charged 11 more pro-life activists with violations of
the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act [FACE Act] for blocking the
entrance of an abortion clinic in 2021.
The DOJ is intent on arresting
pro-lifers, while arresting zero people that firebombed pro-life pregnancy
centers. “At least 83 Catholic churches and 73 pregnancy resource centers or
pro-life organizations have been attacked since the draft opinion was leaked in
May.
On October 6, 2022, Olohan posted
her third article titled “FBI Won’t Provide Updates, Say Whether It Has Arrested Anyone Over Attacks on Pro-Life Organizations, Centers, Churches.” She reported that the FBI “will not share whether it has
made any arrests related to attacks on pro-life centers, organizations, and
Catholic churches” that took place after the Supreme Court Roe v. Wade decision
was leaked. However, the FBI confirmed this week that “it is investigating ‘a
series of attacks and threats targeting pregnancy resource centers, faith-based
organizations, and reproductive health clinics across the country, as well as
judicial buildings, including the U.S. Supreme Court.”
“The incidents are being
investigated as potential acts of domestic violent extremism, FACE Act [Freedom
of Access to Clinic Entrances Act] violations, or violent crime matters,
depending on the facts of each case,” the statement said. “The FBI takes all
violence and threats of violence very seriously and we are working closely with
our law enforcement partners at the national, state, and local levels to
investigate these incidents.”
I question the FBI efforts because a group of activists known as Jane’s Revenge issued a warning last summer: “It’s open season, and we know where your operations are.” It looks like an investigation should have been opened last summer, one that should have been quick. If they are looking for domestic terrorists, they should start with Jane’s Revenge.
