Why Does American Have Two Standards of Justice?

Families, communities, and nations would be much stronger if parents would teach their children that life is not fair. There will always be people who are smarter, richer, more athletic, better looking, etc. than you or me. We should all accept that life seems to be better for some people than for others.

Jesus Christ was the only perfect person to ever live on earth. He had powers that no other mortal has ever had. We could all be jealous of Him; except we know that He wants only the best for us. He went about doing good, but people hated Him to the point that they crucified Him.

Life is not fair, but Americans expect justice under the law to be fair. We have all watched as Donald Trump is treated one way, while Democrats are treated in the opposite way. Many of us can agree with Katrina Trinko that we have two standards of justice in the America, and Trump is not the only person suffering from the differences.

Trinko shared several examples of unfair justice. First, Trinko shared the case of Douglass Mackey that was discussed by Tucker Carlson in a recent monologue. Mackey posted a satirical meme encouraging people to vote by text message. It was a joke, but some stupid people apparently fell for it. Mackey was convicted by a New York state jury and faces up to ten years in prison. Yet, another person did something similar and received no punishment. Kristina Wong posted a similar meme about texting your vote and faced no consequences. What was the difference? Wong voted for Hillary Clinton, and Mackey supported Trump.

Second, Trinko reminded us of the lack of arrests given for protesting outside the home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The only person who was arrested was a guy who traveled across the country with plans to assassinate Kavanaugh, and he turned himself in when he saw the U.S. Marshals posted outside of the Kavanaugh home. If mobs of people were protesting at the homes of Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Ketanji Jackson, people would be arrested and prosecuted. They would probably be called racists and charged with hate crimes. Yet, no one has been prosecuted for protesting outside the Kavanaugh home.

Third, Trinko called our attention to the judicial double standard being shown in the enforcement of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. This law was passed to protect both abortion clinics and pregnancy resource centers.

As the Justice Department website states, “The FACE Act is not about abortions. The statute protects all patients, providers, and facilities that provide reproductive health services, including pro-life pregnancy counseling services and any other pregnancy support facility providing reproductive health care.

Enforcement of the law tells a different story, and congressional Republicans have noticed. Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and others are calling for the FACE Act to be defunded due to the disparity in the enforcement. Roy wrote the following in a letter, which was signed by 11 other House Republicans.

In 2022, the FACE Act was used more than two dozen times against pro-life activists, including Mark Houck, Father Fidelis Moscinski, Lauren Handy, Herb Geraghty, and a Holocaust survivor…. Prior to this year, the FACE Act had never been used to indict individuals related to an attack on a pro-life pregnancy center or house of worship.

The lack of enforcement did not mean that pregnancy resource centers did not face violence. Trinko wrote, “Since the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade, was leaked last year, there have been 83 attacks on pregnancy centers and pro-life groups.

The double standard of justice being exercised in America is not okay. Most Americans can see plainly that Trump is not being treated fairly. However, the double standard is being used in other cases as well. This means that there is corruption in the justice system, and all Americans are in danger. We should work together to root it out and destroy it.

Children and teenagers must learn that life is not fair and that things will never be equal. However, we should always do our best in the circumstances of our lives. Nevertheless, corruption in the justice system is not okay, and our families, communities, and nation will be stronger when it is eradicated.
