Who Are the Judges Voting Against Trump Being on Ballot?

Four non-elected, Democrat-appointed justices recently voted to bar former President Donald Trump from appearing on Colorado’s 2024 ballot. According to Robert Schmad at Western Journal, Colorado Supreme Court Justices Melissa, Monica Marquez, William Hood, and Richard Gabriel determined on Tuesday that Trump was part of the “insurrection” that took place on January 6, 2021. They, therefore, determined that Trump was disqualified from appearing on the Colorado ballot under the Fourteenth Amendment.

All four justices are Democrats that support Democrat interests. According to Federal Election Commission records, Hart donated more than any of her colleagues by donating nearly $20,000 to various Democrat running in federal elections since 2008. She also donated thousands more dollars to state-level Democrats, according to Colorado secretary of state records.

Hood also donated to Democratic candidates and groups in the amount of more than $5,000, according to Ballotpedia. In addition, he “hosted a campaign event for former Democratic Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter.”

“Marquez gave $115 to Obama, and Gabriel gave $600 to assorted Democrats running for federal office, according to FEC records.”

Democrats appoint the remaining three justices on the Colorado Supreme Court, but they voted against removing Trump from the ballot. In addition, none of them donated to Democrat causes.

“All seven justices draw six-figure salaries for their work on the Colorado Supreme Court, according to state records.” Yet, the educational process of the seven judges is interesting. Three of the justices voting to remove Trump from the Colorado ballot -- Marquez, Hart, and Gabriel –attended Ivy League Law Schools. Hood, the fourth justice voting to remove Trump from the ballot, did not attend an Ivy League law school.

All three justices who voted against removing Trump from Colorado’s ballot graduated from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
