How Often Do You Show Your Identification?

The SAVE Act and the SAVE America Act require photo identification to vote in federal elections. Americans show identification at lots of separate locations and for various purposes. The last time that I showed my identification was to pick up a new prescription of pain pills. Showing identification to show who we are is an everyday experience; yet Democrats do not agree that identification should be shown to vote for their governmental representatives. A n article by the Blaze TV Staff discussed this strange phenomenon.

In a recent poll from Pew Research Center, a whopping 76% of Democrats said they favored requiring photo ID to vote – a shocking departure from what Democrats like Chuck Schumer appear to believe.

“We’ve got to get this done and we’ve got to get it done very quickly. The SAVE Act is an abomination. It’s Jim Crow 2.0 across the country. We are going to do everything we can to stop it,” Schumer told reporters.

“How is it Jim Crow to ask for ID, a picture ID? That’s what the SAVE Act is. That you’d be required to have picture ID to go in and vote or to register to vote and then to vote. OK, that is not unreasonable,” Blaze Media co-founder Glenn Beck explains.

“You need a photo ID to get a driver’s license to drive a car, or to renew your driver’s license, or replace your lost license, get a learner’s permit. You need a photo ID to rend a car, to pick up a rental car, even if you prepaid it, to buy car insurance, to file auto insurance claims, to register your vehicle, transfer your vehicle’s title,” he continues.

But that’s not all, as Glenn also points out that you need a photo ID to get a parking permit, use car sharing apps, buy an airline ticket in person, board a commercial flight, and enter the TSA pre-check.

“Is it Jim Crow to ask for photo ID as they scan your eye? Is it racist to ask for photo ID when you check a bag at the airport or when you rent a U-Haul truck or a moving truck, buy a bus or a train ticket in person? Is that really ‘no blacks’?” Glenn asks.

“No blacks can ever go on the bus or the train or an airplane. Really? Really? No, it’s just too hard for them to get a photo ID,” he says, joking, “What a racist.”

Beck continued with his list of reasons why one would need a photo ID: open a bank account, withdraw large amount of cash, cash a check, rent an apartment. I could add a few more reasons: get a mammogram, pick up a prescription of controlled medication, rent a postal box, get a medical operation, transfer money between bank accounts or withdraw cash, open or change a utility account, enter a federal building (like Social Security), and many others.

No one claims racism or Jim Crow for any of those reasons. Yet racism is always claimed when Republicans attempt to make picture identification a requirement for federal elections.

Will Illegal Aliens Vote in the 2024 Presidential Election?

The U.S. House of Representatives, currently under Republican control, voted 221-198 today for a bill that requires proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections. The bill is known as the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, or SAVE Act, and was sponsored by Representative Chip Roy (R-Texas).

According to Fred Lucas at The Daily Signal, the bill would “amend the 1993 National Voter Registration Act, known as the ‘motor voter law,’ to require that states obtain documentary proof of U.S. citizenship from someone before he or she may register to vote.” It would also “require states to remove noncitizens from the voter rolls.”

The interesting part of the vote is that 198 Democrats voted against protecting the right to vote for Americans. We should be grateful for the five Democrats who voted for the legislation. President Joe Biden also opposes the legislation, and the chances of a companion bill in the Senate sponsored by Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) passing are slim to none at all.

“I kind of dare them to vote no on a bill supported by 81% to 87% of the American people,” Roy said Wednesday on the House floor, referring to Democrats. “I dare them to vote no on a bill that says only American citizens should vote in American elections. I dare them to go ahead and follow a president who has put out a policy against a bill, the purpose of which is to guarantee citizens are the ones who get to vote in American elections.”

Roy’s dare did not stop 198 Democrats from voting against a bill that would protect the vote of American citizens. The vote put the Democrats on record, and Americans should show at the ballot box how they feel about such a vote.

The bill passed in the House would do some other things. It would “empower U.S. citizens to bring civil suits against election officials who don’t uphold proof-of-citizenship requirements for federal elections.” It would also allow “for integrating existing databases at the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration to expedite the requirement for states to remove noncitizens from voter rolls.”

It is “already illegal for noncitizens to vote in federal elections,” but this bill would put a mechanism into place that would “ensure that only those registering or voting are actually citizens,” according to Speaker of the House Johnson (R-La.) Johnson added some other information that is interesting.

Johnson, R-La., noted that Virginia last year removed 1,500 registrants from the voter rolls who were noncitizens, and 22% had cast ballots. The states of Massachusetts and Ohio removed noncitizens from voter rolls in recent years. Georgia found that 1,600 noncitizens attempted to vote.

“American citizens will be protected and in no way harmed by this bill,” Johnson said Wednesday on the House floor. “There is not a conceivable argument that the Democrats can make to oppose the commonsense measures that we’re putting before them today. Nothing changes the voter registration process in the states.”

“The only people who will face hurdles here are those who are trying to break our federal laws,” the House speaker said. “And that’s why it’s patently absurd that the White House issued a veto threat. They issued a veto threat.”

Other interesting information provided by Lucas is that Pennsylvania Secretary of State Pedro Cortes resigned in 2009 “after the state admitted to registering illegal immigrants for several years.”

More than 10 million illegal immigrants and millions more paroled aliens have entered the country since Biden took office in January 2021. The Biden administration has released at least 4.6 million illegal aliens into the United States in addition to 1.8 million known “gotaways,” according to Roy’s office.

One has to wonder why Democrats do not want to protect the right to vote for American citizens. Are they encouraging illegal aliens to vote in American elections? This sounds like election interfering to me – an illegal act.

2024-5-8 What is the SAVE Act?

Congressional Republicans acted to “save democracy” with a new bill, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act). According to Fred Lucas at The Daily Signal, is sponsored in the House by Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and in the Senate by Senator Mike Lee. Here is an explanation for the bill.

“Due to the wide-open border that the Biden administration has refused to close, practically engineered to open, we now have so many noncitizens in the country that if only one out of 100 voted, they would cast hundreds of thousands of votes,” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La), said Wednesday during a press conference in front of the Capitol.

“Since our elections are so razor thin these days – just a few precincts in a few states decide the makeup of Congress and who is elected to the White House – this is a dangerously high number and it is a great concern to millions and millions of Americans. It could actually change the outcome of our elections,” Johnson said….

The House speaker noted that about 16 million illegal aliens have entered the United States since Joe Biden took office as president.

The new “legislation would amend the 1993 National Voter Registration Act, also known as the “motor voter law,” to require that states obtain documentary proof of citizenship from someone before he or she may register to vote.” The legislation would “also require states to remove noncitizens from existing voter rolls.” Roy told reporters:

“The most fundamental thing you can do to destroy the rule of law and to destroy our republic is to undermine faith in elections and undermine integrity of elections by making it unclear as to who is voting and limiting our ability to know that only citizens are voting.” [He added:]

We are here for the proposition supported by the vast majority of the American people: that only citizens of the United States should vote, that we should have documentary proof, that we should have a system to guarantee that only citizens of the United States vote in federal elections where we have the clear authority under the Constitution of the United States, under our laws as Congress, to set the terms of those elections.

Lee and Roy are trying to protect the rule of one-citizen-one-vote of Americans, which means that every lawmaker should vote for it. Anyone who does not vote for it either wants or accepts the idea of noncitizens voting in American. However, we have lawmakers who will oppose it.
