The liberty
principle for this Freedom Friday concerns the fact that mortals long to be
free. The people of Great Britain voted themselves out of the European Union in
an effort for Britain to be governed by Britain.
Michael Goodwin at the New York Post writes, “Revolutions are a leap into the
unknown and require the right mix of outrage, determination and leadership. They
are testament to the ethos of an entire country and culture when they succeed
without a shot being fired.
“That’s the beauty of Brexit,
and of grand old England. The people spoke, they were heard, and the wheel of
history is turning. Let’s get on with it.
“It took a revolution because
the leaders of both of Britain’s major political parties united in opposition
to change, with the pooh-bahs and grandees trying to scare voters into sticking
with the status quo. Naturally, the establishment media lectured the rubes on
what was good for them.
“Sound familiar, America?”
To me, it sounds exactly like
what is happening in America. We are led by two major political parties whose
leaders are not willing to listen to Americans. They continue to use scare
tactics to keep their sheeples in line.
Nile Gardiner at The Daily Signal claims that “Britain outside the EU will be a stronger ally for the United
States.” He also says the Brexit vote “signals a new era of freedom for the
British people…. Great Britain has declared its independence…. The vote for
Brexit … is a vote for sovereignty and self-determination.”
The people in Britain have
thrown off a heavy yoke of government. I wonderful if the American people will
be smart enough to do the same.
