My VIP for this week is Michael Lindell, the inventor and CEO of MyPillow, a company based in Chaska, Minnesota. Soon after Lindell became aware that America was running short on face masks, he retooled his company to start making masks. With 75% of his production directed to making face masks, Lindell and company made 10,000 cotton masks per day at the end of March. The company planned to start increasing production during the first week in April.
“It’s very labor-intensive. One employee
for eight hours can only make 100 to 120 masks,’ Lindell, 58, told The Daily
Signal in a phone interview. “Now we want to ramp up and do about 50,000 a day.”
MyPillow is enabling the jump in production
by operating two shifts a day and calling on its production partners, who make
supplies like mattress toppers for them, to also begin making face masks.
Lindell and company took two to three days to reconfigure their working area. They put the necessary six feet between machine operators to ensure safety. Lindell recognized that our nation has an emergency, so he put his regular business on hold and began to make masks. He is a God-fearing, patriotic American who deserves to be honored for his sacrifice and leadership.
