In about the year 385 A.D., there was a final battle between two warring nations in ancient America. The Lamanites killed all the Nephites except 24 people and then continued to hunt and destroy them. The ancient American prophet and Nephite general Mormon and his son Moroni were among the survivors. Mormon was severely injured in the battle and passed over as dead by the attacking Lamanites. He was later found and treated for his injuries but probably died from them.
As he looked out over the dead bodies
of approximately 230,000 of his slain people, Mormon lamented their deaths. Mormon
could have been near death when he wrote, “And my soul was rent with anguish,
because of the slain of my people, and I cried:
O ye fair ones, how could ye have departed
from the ways of the Lord! O ye fair ones, how could ye have rejected that
Jesus, who stood with open arms to receive you!
Behold, if ye had not done this, ye would
not have fallen. But behold, ye are fallen, and I mourn your loss. (Mormon
6:17-18).
Just as Mormon mourned the fall of
his people, I am mourning the fall of my people. I recognize that we have not
yet reached the point of the annihilation of the Nephites by the Lamanites, but
I fear that we are moving rapidly in that direction. Even though the results of
the 2020 presidential election are not known at the present time, I am mourning
the conditions that brought us to this point where half – plus or minus -- the
voters chose evil, namely socialism.
There was a clear distinction
between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. One is a healthy and robust man with a long
list of accomplishments, and the other is an old, frail man with dementia who
has been in government for 47 years and has done nothing for America. One has
clearly stated that socialism would not come into the United States while he is
president, and the other openly courts socialists for his cabinet.
Many of those who chose socialism know better,
and they willingly and knowingly chose it because they were deceived by Satan.
Some of the best and brightest of people allowed Satan to deceive them and fill
their hearts with hate for Trump. While they were busy hating Trump, their eyes
were blinded to the many good things that Trump was doing for the nation. They
could see that “Trump is a terrible man!” and must be replaced. I am not saying
that they should have voted for Trump, but I am saying that a vote for Biden
was wrong. I am terribly disappointed in my fellow Americans. I am particularly
disappointed in those who know the history and prophecies concerning this land
as found in the Book of Mormon – Another Testament of Jesus Christ – and allowed
Satan to deceive them.
I remind my readers that President Russell
M. Nelson pleaded with us in the April 2018 General Conference to open our
hearts and minds to God. “My beloved brothers and sisters, I plead with
you to increase your spiritual capacity to receive revelation…. Choose
to do the spiritual work required to enjoy the gift of the Holy Ghost and hear
the voice of the Spirit more frequently and more clearly.”
I do not believe that it is a coincidence
that the scripture study program for 2020 is the Book of Mormon. I do not
believe it is a coincidence that our current study is about the last battle and
death of Mormon. The writers of the Book of Mormon saw our day and gave us
warning.
Mosiah was a righteous king in ancient
America who changed his government from a monarchy to a democracy for the good
of his people. He explained to them that righteous kings were okay and did much
good, but it was almost impossible to dethrone an unrighteous king. He made
clear to them how wicked kings surround themselves with guards and their “friends
in iniquity” and how they “teareth up the laws of those who have reigned in
righteousness before [them]” (Mosiah 29:22). He warned them that dethroning
such a king would be impossible except “through much contention, and the
shedding of much blood” (Mosiah 29:21). He continued by clarifying the benefits
of a democracy.
Therefore, choose you by the voice of this
people, judges, that ye may be judged according to the laws which have been
given you by our fathers, which are correct, and which were given them by the
hand of the Lord.
Now it is not common that the voice of the
people desireth anything contrary to that which is right; but it is common for
the lesser part of the people to desire that which is not right; therefore this
shall ye observe and make it your law – to do your business by the voice of the
people.
And if the time comes that the voice of
the people doth choose iniquity then is the time that the judgments of God will
come upon you; yea, then is the time he will visit you with great destruction
even as he has hitherto visited this land (Mosiah 29:25-27).
The people of Mosiah loved their
king, and they knew that he loved them and worked for their benefit. They
accepted his offer to put them in a position where their “sins and iniquities [would]
be answered upon their own heads” (Mosiah 29:30). They accepted their personal
responsibility and moved forward enjoying their “rights and privileges alike”
(Mosiah 29:32).
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints have long been told that the Book of Mormon – Another Testament
of Jesus Christ was written for us and for our day. It warns us that secret
combinations would be in the government in the latter-days. We have been
warned! One of the clearest voices of warning was President Ezra Taft Benson.
The Nephites never had the book; neither
did the Lamanites of ancient times. It was meant for us….
Each of the major writers of the Book of
Mormon testified that he wrote for future generations [see 2 Nephi 25:21; Jacob
1:3; Mormon 7:1; 8:34-35] ….
If they saw our day, and chose those
things which would be of greatest worth to us, is not that how we should study
the Book of Mormon? We should constantly ask ourselves, “Why did the Lord
inspire Mormon (or Moroni or Alma) to include that in his record? What lesson
can I learn from that to help me live in this day and age?”
The writers of the Book of Mormon
saw our day when secret combinations would infiltrate the government. That day
is long past! Their takeover of the government was only delayed by the election
of Donald Trump. He was an outsider who was uninvolved in the corruption and
threatened the power of the elites who had ensconced themselves in Washington,
D.C. From the time that he became the Republican nominee in 2016, the elites
began plotting his overthrow to keep their corruption hidden. They used the
powers of the government in their attempt to overthrow a duly elected President.
Now there are investigations about
how the coup started, and indictments could come any day. If Joe Biden wins
this election and becomes president, all the investigations will be stopped, but
the corruption will continue. In addition, evidence seems to say that Joe Biden
was part of the corruption where Hunter Biden and Jim Biden made millions and
billions of dollars selling the Biden name and influence to foreign nations,
including Russia and China. It is possible that Biden sold national secrets to foreign
nations. Only an investigation would prove him innocent or guilty – but such an
investigation would stop when he became president.
Then there is the movement to make America a socialist country. I know that some of you will laugh at this suggestion, but President Ronald Reagan said, “Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction.” My generation is standing firm against socialism. Donald Trump has been standing between America and socialism for four years. Biden chose two avowed socialists as advisors, and they are planning to be in his cabinet: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders.
for
Biden – a man who is being advised by socialists. Half is not quite a majority –
yet. There is still time to save our nation, but it will not be done by people
who knowingly and willingly choose evil simply because their hearts are full of
hate for Donald Trump. I pray that God will bless America and keep us safe from enemies – both foreign and domestic. Meanwhile, I will mourn Americans who have
been blessed with freedom and are willingly giving it away.
