My VIP for this week is the American voter. Tomorrow is election when Americans will determine who will be the leader of the free world. Will voters choose Donald Trump who is an outsider to Washington, D.C., but who has a proven record for working for the good of all Americans and people everywhere, or will they choose Joe Biden, a man who has been in politics for 47 years and has no accomplishments to show?
We should have some idea in the next 24 hours,
but 2020 has been a strange year with no promise that the election will be any
different. America will live through this election, but the winner will
determine what kind of a nation it is. Joe Biden’s vision for America is “a
long, dark winter,” while Donald Trump believes that it is “morning in America”
again. The writers of this post believe that early voters in October show who will win the election.
October voting is no longer the exclusive
domain of the Democratic Party. Both parties vote early and in ever-increasing
numbers. Which makes the October vote an early “action report” on the election
outcome that’s more reality based than the polls or the mainstream media.
Who you vote for is a secret. When, where,
and how many voters cast their ballots is not. It’s data. In this case,
data in its most meaningful form: the number of early votes by registered
Democrats and the number of early votes by registered Republicans….
In the final weeks of the campaign, enthusiasm
for Donald Trump, demonstrated at multiple daily rallies, has been far beyond what
it was four years ago. Will enthusiasm help produce another winning voter
turnout for Trump?
Spoiler alert: Data generated by
early voting says “yes.”
This writer seems to believe that
Trump has a “mandate from heaven” to be the President of the United States. I have heard and read comments by many people who believe the same. He
certainly seems to be protected from all the flack being thrown his way.
The Mandate of Heaven is a concept that
goes back a long way: The Chinese philosophical concept of the circumstances
under which a ruler is allowed to rule. Good rulers would be allowed to rule
with the Mandate of Heaven, and despotic, unjust rulers would have the Mandate
revoked.
The author discussed numerous ways
that “the resistance” tried to removed Trump from office, including the General
Michael Flynn case, the Emoluments Clause, the 25th Amendment, Brett
Kavanaugh, several turncoat appointees, Anonymous, the “Russian Collusion”
case, and the “Impeachment.” None of them succeeded, and Trump seemed to come through
them with greater strength. After discussing the above challenges, the author
continued.
We could add plenty more. No president has
ever been made to walk a more brutal gauntlet than this. Not even Nixon. In a
saner epoch, people will look back and shake their heads at how most of the
government and a plurality of the people of this country simply went mad,
attacking their national leader for no reason beyond ideological meltdown.
But here’s the thing – none of it worked.
Not a single one of these little conspiracies succeeded in laying a glove on
Donald Trump. He didn’t quail, he didn’t back off, he didn’t panic. By all
indications he thrived on it. All this would have – and many times previously,
as we know from Goldwater, Nixon, Romney, and many others – destroyed a lesser
man. But Trump has become a living illustration of the Nietzsche aphorism: “What
doesn’t kill me makes me stronger.” …
You look at all this and you can’t shake
the feeling that someone or something is watching over Donald Trump. Call it
what you will – Jehovah, the engine of History, the American Spirit… The
Mandate of Heaven rests lightly on his shoulders, and it doesn’t seem to be
slipping….
But whatever happens, we can say this:
Donald Trump confronted the entire malignant panoply of the elites, the Deep
State, the suit-wearing criminal class, took them on alone at the head of his
people and forced them back for four long years. And that, in and of itself, is
an achievement that places him among the immortals.
I believe that Donald Trump was made
for “such a time as this” (Esther 4:14). I agree with Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah)
who compared Trump to Captain Moroni, a righteous and powerful leader of the
Nephites in the Book of Mormon – Another Testament of Jesus Christ. These are
the qualities that Senator Lee considered similar in the two men: “He seeks not
power, but to pull it down. He seeks not the praise of the world or the ‘fake
news,’ but he seeks the well-being and the peace of the American people.” Similar words were used to describe Captain Moroni by the ancient American
prophet named Mormon who compiled the Book of Mormon.
Many members of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints were irate that Senator Lee would compare the
terrible Trump to Captain Moroni. Others were upset that he mixed religion and
politics. I am a little embarrassed for all of them and their blindness. I feel
certain that Senator Lee does not believe that Donald Trump is the equal of the
man of whom the following was said: “if all men had been, and were, and ever
would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been
shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the
children of men” (Alma 48:17).
Even though I do not consider Trump
as the equal of Captain Moroni, I can see that both men stood between their
people and the enemy in a fight to protect and preserve religion, freedom, and a
God-inspired government. Captain Moroni fought against men with swords, spears,
bows, and arrows, while Trump and his family were maligned at every
opportunity. I do not know how he stood up under the continual assaults from
liberals. Therefore, I believe that he must be operating under the Mandate of
Heaven. I hope that Americans decide to give him four more years to protect and
preserve our American way of life.
