A true historical event took place over the past week, and it happened because of Donald Trump. Many Americans may refuse to give Trump credit for what he did to end the war between Hamas and Israel, but the people of Israel enthusiastically welcomed Trump to Israel as a hero.
The
people of Israel recognize that Trump brokered a historic peace deal between
Israel and Hamas, which led to the release of the twenty remaining living
hostages held by Hamas. Rebeka Zeljko described the scene in Israel as follows.
Trump
arrived in Israel to find newspapers praising the peacemaker, roaring applause
and standing ovations in the Knesset, and even some attendees wearing
MAGA-style hats celebrating the “peace president.” The 20 remaining living
hostages were returned to their families on Monday.
For
the first time in over two years, Hamas no longer holds any living hostages
thanks to Trump’s historic peace deal….
Trump
met with all the families of the hostages following their release, many of them
recounting the horrors that took place on October 7, 2023. The hostages also
expressed overwhelming gratitude for Trump’s peace deal, saying if it were not
for him, they might not be alive.
One
hostage told Trump about meeting, for the first time, his 14-month-old
daughter, who was born while he was in captivity.
“I
got my life back thanks to you and your staff,” the freed hostage told Trump. “I
came back here, met my baby girl when she was already 14 months old, and now,
life is full.”
“Your
name will be remembered for generations,” another hostage family said.
Newsweek
reported an announced plan for President Donald Trump to receive the Israeli
Presidential Medal of Honor. This is most prestigious award give by Israel to
civilians, and it was given to Trump “for his role in brokering a Gaza
ceasefire and securing the release of hostages.”
Israeli
President Isaac Herzog announced on Monday that Trump would receive the honor,
as Israel confirmed that Hamas had released the first group of hostages
captured on October 7, 2023….
In
his announcement, Herzog also referred to Trump’s role in establishing the
Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between Israel and several Arab
nations.
He
also noted the U.S.’s “decisive strike on Iran’s nuclear program” in June,
which Washington said had destroyed Tehran’s atomic weapons program.
Herzog
said Trump’s legacy would be “remembered for generations by the State of Israel
and the Jewish people,” and that the U.S. president had shown “commitment to
leading the entire region toward an era of peace and cooperation.”
As one could expect, “President Donald Turmp took a victory lap on Monday” when he spoke
before the Israel Knesset and called it a “new dawn in the Middle East.” Then
he traveled to Egypt to lead “world leaders in affirming a ceasefire deal
between Israel and Hamas.”
The
world increased hope for peace last week when “Trump announced both parties had
signed his 20-point peace plan,” which put “a stop to two years of conflict by
requiring Hamas to return Israeli hostages and Israel to withdraw its troops
from Gaza.”
At this
site, Virginia Allen shares the experiences of some of the final twenty living hostages
reuniting with their families after 738 days in Hamas captivity. She shows “Images
of fathers, mothers, wives, brothers, and sisters embracing their loved ones after
two years of separation.”
After brokering
eight peace deals in eight months, Trump has earned the title of being a “peace
president.” He inherited a world at war, but he brought peace to the Middle
East and is acting to bring peace to the entire world. The question remains about
the possibility of Trump receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.
