Who Is Donald Trump?

My VIP for this week is former President Donald J. Trump who courageously returned to the site of his first assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. He returned to “mark the triumph of American spirit” and to pay tribute to the victims of the July 13th assassination attempt. Elizabeth Troutman Mitchell shared five highlights of the October 5th return to Butler.

1. Trump Remembers Victim of First Butler Rally

Trump honored Comperatore’s wife, daughters, and sisters, who were at the second Butler rally Saturday evening….

Trump called Comperatore a “protector” who sacrificed his life for his family….

Every husband and father should hope they would behave like Comperatore if placed in the same situation, the former president said….

Comperatore did not die in vain, according to Trump.

2. ‘Everything Has To Be the Best:’ Trump’s Vision for the Future

Trump said he is on a mission to save our country from the corrupt political establishment.

“We have to change it,” he said. “We need also a very free and open press and to give it back to the country you believe in and I believe in.” ….

3. Trump Urges Americans to Vote to Save The Country

“If you want a president who will stop at nothing to protect you and your family,” Trump said, “I hope you’re going to vote for a gentleman named Donald J. Trump.”

Trump urged Pennsylvanians to vote in November to “save our country.”

“With victory on Nov. 5, we are going to redeem America’s promise and unlock the extraordinary future that is just within our reach,” Trump said….

4. Elon Musk Says Trump Will Preserve Constitutional Rights

Trump welcomed billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk to the stage, saying he “saved free speech.”

“Free speech is the bedrock of democracy, and if people don’t know what’s what’s going on, if they don’t know the truth, how can you how can you make an informed vote?” Musk asked. “You must have free speech in order to have democracy. That’s why it’s the First Amendment, and the Second Amendment is there to ensure that we have the First Amendment.” …

Musk said he believes this could be the “last election” if people don’t vote for Trump. He urged people to register to vote as soon as possible.

“Nothing is more important,” Musk said.

5. Trump Warns Against Kamala Harris Presidency

Trump agreed with Musk that this is the most important election in American history.

“My opponent, Kamala Harris, is the most incompetent and far-left nominee ever to run for president,” Trump said. “You know, she’s much further left than crazy Bernie Sanders.”

He blamed Vice President Kamala Harris, who President Joe Biden placed in charge of the border in 2021, for the immigration crisis.

“She wants mass amnesty and citizenship for illegals,” Trump said. “And worst of all … she lost more than 325,000 migrant children that are now dead, in slavery or just plain missing, probably never to be seen again, never to see their parents again.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General released a report t the end of August saying that the Biden-Harris administration has lost track of approximately 300,000 migrant children.

Trump promised the largest deportation in American history….

Who Is Donald J. Trump?

My VIP for this week is Donald J. Trump because he is who he pretends to be. No one has to wonder about who Donald Trump is or what he thinks! However, he is not a regular politician.

In the 2020 presidential election, Joe Biden his out in his basement – supposedly because of COVID-19 – and few Americans understood that he was in the beginning stages of dementia. The media and Democrats hid the real Joe Biden during the campaign and during his administration. The deceit continued until the June debate with Trump made it apparent to everyone that Biden has dementia.

After Biden bowed out – or was forced out – of the 2024 presidential election, Kamala Harris was installed as the candidate. Harris is continuing the practice of hiding from the people. She holds rallies where she can speak with a teleprompter, but she rarely speaks with reporters and has held only one sit down interview with anyone besides her running mate.

The big question is “Will Americans vote for the hiding candidate, or will they vote for the man that will be best for America?” Another good question is, “Do Americans hate Trump more than they love America?”

Who Is Donald J. Trump?

My VIP for this week is former President Donald J. Trump simply because he was a big winner in a second major decision passed by the Supreme Court. As reminder by John G. Malcolm at The Daily Signal, the high court’s March 4 decision, Trump v. Anderson, the justices voted “unanimously that Trump could not be disqualified from the presidential ballot under the insurrection clause of the 14th Amendment.”

Malcolm reported today that the Supreme Court made “one of the most significant constitutional decisions it has ever issued with respect to the separation of powers and the powers of the presidency” in its 6-3 decision in Trump v. U.S. The majority of the justices declared that “former presidents are entitled to broad immunity from criminal prosecution after they leave office for acts committed while in office.” Malcom wrote that this decision “will likely have a bigger impact on how presidents are likely to act in the future while in office.”

In the wake of criminal charges brought against him by special counsel Jack Smith for acts Trump undertook while contesting the outcome of the 2020 presidential election and during the events of Jan. 6, 2021, Trump asked the Supreme Court to decide whether a former president has absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for his “official” acts as president.

This is an issue of first impression before the high court. The closest case on point is Nixon v. Fitzgerald (1982), in which the court held that a president has absolute immunity from civil liability arising from any acts “within the ‘outer perimeter’ of his official responsibility.”

Trump argued that former presidents should be absolutely immune from criminal prosecution for any “official acts” they undertook as president, with the sole exception being for acts which led to a president’s impeachment by the House of Representatives and subsequent removal from office by the Senate after a trial.

As support, Trump cites the Constitution’s impeachment judgment clause, which provides: “Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

Trump noted that, although the Democrat-run House impeached him twice while he was in office, the Senate acquitted him both times following a trial. Moreover, Trump claims, the second impeachment trial covered “much of the same conduct charged in the indictment.” …

The high court stated that, as Trump’s lawyers had conceded during oral argument, former presidents are not immune for unofficial acts that they undertake in office…. But the court provided some guidance about how to distinguish between what is an official act and what is an unofficial act, while leaving it up to the trial court to take the first crack at applying these standards to the allegations against Trump.

Borrowing from Fitzgerald, the court held that former presidents are presumptively immune from prosecution for actions they undertook within the outer perimeter of their official responsibilities, and that it is the prosecution’s burden to present enough evidence to overcome that presumption by showing that such a prosecution would pose no “dangers of intrusion upon the authority and functions of the Executive Branch.”

Moreover, Roberts stated, a reviewing court may not inquire into a president’s motives, since conducting such a “highly intrusive” inquiry would undoubtedly involve courts examining sensitive internal deliberations based on mere allegations of wrongdoing. Such “broad-reaching discovery,” Roberts wrote, could “seriously cripple the President’s exercise of his official duties.”

Furthermore, the Supreme Court added that testimony or private records of the president or his advisors probing such conduct may not be admitted as evidence at trial, adding to the government’s burden of persuasion.

The Supreme Court left many issues to the trial court and the D.C. Circuit to ponder, while dispatching some allegations against Trump. These included “Trump’s discussions with Justice Department officials” as being part of a president’s authority; communications between President and Vice President being part of their scope of office; serious doubt was cast on President’s discussion with the President of the Senate (V.P.); President’s communication with state election officials.

Regarding Trump’s speeches and social media posts on and around Jan. 6, 2021, when the Capitol riot occurred, Roberts left open the possibility that some of those remarks “perhaps as a candidate for office or party leader,” might fall on the side of unofficial conduct. But the chief justice added that “Presidents possess extraordinary power to speak to his fellow citizens and on their behalf,” and as a result, “most of a President’s public communications are likely to fall comfortably within the outer perimeter of his official responsibilities.”

Roberts concluded his majority opinion by stating:

The President enjoys no immunity for his unofficial acts, and not everything the President does is official. The President is not above the law. But Congress may not criminalize the President’s conduct in carrying out the responsibilities of the Executive Branch under the Constitution. And the system of separated powers designed by the Framers has always demanded an energetic, independent Executive. The President therefore may not be prosecuted for exercising his core constitutional powers, and he is entitled, at a minimum, to a presumptive immunity form prosecution for all his official acts. That immunity applies equally to all occupants of the Oval Office, regardless of politics, policy, or party.

Trump v. U.S. and Fischer v. U.S. will impact the D.C. case against Trump. In addition, Justice Clarence Thomas raised an issue that will impact the classified document case against Trump in Florida: “whether Smith’s designation as special counsel by the Justice Department violates the Constitution’s appointments clause” because he was not nominated by a president or confirmed by the Senate. The Trump v. U.S. decision will also impact the Georgia case against Trump.

Who Is Donald J. Trump?

Former President and current presidential candidate Donald J. Trump is one of the most famous people in the world. He is also among the richest 500 people in the world. He is also the most persecuted person in American history. Democrats and the Left Wing are doing their best to stop Trump from becoming the next President of the United States. However, Trump is “Teflon Trump” because Democrats look a whole lot like Wiley Coyote trying to catch the Roadrunner.

The case in point is the case is the case brought against Trump in New York by New York state Attorney General Leticia James. She charged Trump in a civil fraud case and place a huge bond on him -- $454 million – to appeal the judgment issued by Judge Arthur Engoron. Today an appeals court reduced the bond amount to $175 million and gave him 10 days to arrange funding.

Katelynn Richardson published a report on today’s ruling in The Daily Signal that included the following.

Trump’s lawyers indicated in a court filing last week that he would not be able to post that bond [$454 million], writing that “very few bonding companies will consider a bond of anything approaching that magnitude.” His attorneys sought to stay the execution of the judgment. In response, New Yor state Attorney General Letitia James argued Trump had not supplied evidence that he would be unable to pay.

“If defendants were truly unable to provide an undertaking, they at a minimum should have consented to have their real estate interests held by Supreme Court to satisfy the judgement,” the filing stated.

James campaigned on the promise to “get Trump” wants to destroy Trump. Her plan was to take some of his property. However, the Appeals Court weakened her evil attempt. It is important to remember that there are no victims in the case brought against Trump. The banks that Trump dealt with said that they would collaborate with him again because Trump repaid his debts early and fully. There was no fraud! James deserves to be exposed as using the law for a political purpose.

Who Won the Iowa Caucus?

My VIP for this week is former President Donald J. Trump. The Associated Press called the Iowa caucus in favor of Trump even though all votes were not yet counted. According to The New York Times, the current results as follows:

Candidate                                            Votes                        Percentage                 Delegates

Donald J. Trump                                 56,260                         51.0%                          20

Ron DeSantis                                      23,420                         21.2%                            8

Nikki Haley                                         21,085                         19.1%                            7

Vivek Ramaswamy                               8,449                           7.7%                            3

Ryan Binkley                                           774                           0.7%                            0

Asa Hutchinson                                        191                           0.2%                            0

Chris Christie                                             35                         <0.1%                            0

Other                                                          84                           0.1%                            0

Total reported                                    110,298                       100.0%                          38

The results indicate that both Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley will remain in the race. However, they bring questions about the 35 people who voted for Christ Christie after he suspended his candidacy and the 84 people who voted for “other.”

The race is on – and hopefully will soon be over! Trump received more than half the votes. Some liberals looked at the results differently – 49% of Republicans voted against Trump. However, they should not gloat because those who did not vote for Trump still voted for a Republican.

Why Do Democrats Hate Trump Like They Do?

My VIP for this week is Donald J. Trump, former President of the United States and candidate in the 2024 presidential election. I chose Trump for my VIP because he announced on Saturday that he expects to be arrested on Tuesday (tomorrow). Manhattan’s district attorney may single-handedly propel Trump to a landslide victory. On the other hand, he may end his own career for allowing his hatred for Trump to override his better judgment.

The basis for Trump’s arrest took place in 2016. X-rated actress Stormy Daniels threatened to go public about an affair that she had with Trump. He denies any such affair, but he did pay $130,000 to Daniels as hush money.

According to Chris Enloe at The Blaze, Jonathan Turley, a professor at the George Washington School of Law, called the case “pathetic” in a piece about the case.

Bragg is struggling to twist state laws to effectively prosecute a federal case long ago rejected by the Justice Department…. In 2018 (yes, that is how long this theory has been around), I wrote how difficult such a federal case would be under existing election laws. Now, six years later, the same theory may be shoehorned into a state claim.

After quoting the above paragraph, Enloe proceeded to explain why he agreed with Turley that the case is pathetic. He explained that there are several reasons for Turley calling the case pathetic.

First, so-called “hush money” payments are not necessarily illegal, and the federal government has a poor track record of prosecuting similar cases.

Second, former Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance Jr. dismissed the viability of the legal course that Bragg is now charting.

Third, and most important, “Bragg himself previously expressed doubts about the case, effectively shutting it down soon after he took office,” Turley wrote.

Turley considers the case to be “patently political prosecution,” and he is not alone. Former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy agrees.

“Bragg is engaged in bare-naked politics. The case is not merely unworthy as a prosecution of Trump (which is why federal prosecutors walked away from it years ago, as did Bragg before he was pressured by progressive Democrats into reviving it); it is also a case that everyone knows Bragg would never bring against another other than Trump,” McCarthy wrote.

Donald Trump was friends with all the Democrats until he announced his intention to run for President of the United States in 2016. Since that time, Democrats and progressives are united in their attempt to “get Trump” in any way possible. First, there was the “Russia collusion case. Then there were the two attempts to remove Trump from office. Then there was the FBI raid on Trump’s home. Now AG Bragg is attempting to combine a state law with a federal law to put Trump in jail.

All the efforts of the Democrats and progressive beg the question: Why are they so afraid for Trump to be President of the United States? What are they hiding from Americans? All their efforts to keep Trump out of the Oval Office propel me to support him.
