Who Won the Iowa Caucus?

My VIP for this week is former President Donald J. Trump. The Associated Press called the Iowa caucus in favor of Trump even though all votes were not yet counted. According to The New York Times, the current results as follows:

Candidate                                            Votes                        Percentage                 Delegates

Donald J. Trump                                 56,260                         51.0%                          20

Ron DeSantis                                      23,420                         21.2%                            8

Nikki Haley                                         21,085                         19.1%                            7

Vivek Ramaswamy                               8,449                           7.7%                            3

Ryan Binkley                                           774                           0.7%                            0

Asa Hutchinson                                        191                           0.2%                            0

Chris Christie                                             35                         <0.1%                            0

Other                                                          84                           0.1%                            0

Total reported                                    110,298                       100.0%                          38

The results indicate that both Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley will remain in the race. However, they bring questions about the 35 people who voted for Christ Christie after he suspended his candidacy and the 84 people who voted for “other.”

The race is on – and hopefully will soon be over! Trump received more than half the votes. Some liberals looked at the results differently – 49% of Republicans voted against Trump. However, they should not gloat because those who did not vote for Trump still voted for a Republican.

Iowa Caucus

The beginning of the end of this political season took place tonight at the Iowa caucus.  Texas Senator Ted Cruz won for Republicans with Donald Trump taking second and Marco Rubio taking third.  Senator Cruz gave the credit to the grassroots and the glory to God.

I am relieved that Ted Cruz won the caucus even though it may not mean anything in a few weeks or months.  My long-time readers know that my first support went to Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.  I had numerous reasons for wanting him with one of those reasons being I wanted our conservative Senators to stay in the Senate.  With all the conservative governors out of the race, my next choice was Ted Cruz.  I am a happy woman tonight!
