Former Congressman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.)
is my VIP for this week. I was sad when I heard that he was not going to seek
reelection. I was happy to hear that he was a contributor at Fox News and would
still be giving input on national events.
Gowdy was the chair of the House
Intelligence Committee before he retired, and he had the opportunity and the
responsibility to see much of the information contained in the investigation of
Donald Trump. He revealed on Sunday that there are some unreleased transcripts
of conversations between former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos and an
informant for the FBI. He says that those transcripts have the “potential to be a game-changer.”
According to Gowdy government
officials may be guilty of wrongdoing by withholding the information from the
judges on the FISA Court. He said that whenever law enforcement officers
present information to judges for warrants that they are required to present
exculpatory evidence, or evidence showing that the suspect is or could be
innocent. This evidence is in the unreleased transcripts but was not given to
the judges.
The situation may be what Attorney
General William Barr was considering when he said that he is investigating
whether government officials “put their thumb on the scale” during the Russia
collusion investigation.
Gowdy outed the information on
nationwide television. It is now all over the Internet. Will this outing cause
any problems in the Barr investigation, or will it cause the information to be
released quicker to the public? The rats involved in this bogus investigation
are being illuminated, and there is nothing like shining the light on rats to
make them scamper.
