Trey Gowdy

Former Congressman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) is my VIP for this week. I was sad when I heard that he was not going to seek reelection. I was happy to hear that he was a contributor at Fox News and would still be giving input on national events.

Gowdy was the chair of the House Intelligence Committee before he retired, and he had the opportunity and the responsibility to see much of the information contained in the investigation of Donald Trump. He revealed on Sunday that there are some unreleased transcripts of conversations between former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos and an informant for the FBI. He says that those transcripts have the “potential to be a game-changer.”

According to Gowdy government officials may be guilty of wrongdoing by withholding the information from the judges on the FISA Court. He said that whenever law enforcement officers present information to judges for warrants that they are required to present exculpatory evidence, or evidence showing that the suspect is or could be innocent. This evidence is in the unreleased transcripts but was not given to the judges.

The situation may be what Attorney General William Barr was considering when he said that he is investigating whether government officials “put their thumb on the scale” during the Russia collusion investigation.

Gowdy outed the information on nationwide television. It is now all over the Internet. Will this outing cause any problems in the Barr investigation, or will it cause the information to be released quicker to the public? The rats involved in this bogus investigation are being illuminated, and there is nothing like shining the light on rats to make them scamper.

Trey Gowdy

Representative Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) is very popular with conservatives. As a former prosecutor he is very much a “law and order” man. He knows the law, and he has the courage to enforce it. Many conservatives rejoiced to hear that he was on the short list to be the next FBI Director and were disappointed when he “removed himself from the list of potential candidates.” Gowdy told Attorney General Jeff Sessions that he was not the “right person” for the job. He later posted the following in a social media post.

I was out of the country on a House intelligence committee mission when Jim Comey’s tenure ended as director of the FBI…. I spoke briefly with Attorney General Sessions Saturday when I returned and again this afternoon. I shared with him two things: (1) the qualities I believe are indispensable for our next FBI Director to possess, and (2) my firm conviction that I would not be the right person.

Even though Gowdy has often been a critic of Comey, he made a strong defense of Comey’s press conference to announce the decision of no prosecution for Hillary Clinton for her email scandal. Gowdy called Comey a “standup guy” who made the only decision he could and that “history will be kinder” to Comey than the Democrats were at the time.

Gowdy came into the spotlight when he became the chairman of a committee to investigate the Benghazi incident. He is now expected to replace Representative Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) as the next chairman of the House Oversight Committee. Chaffetz is leaving Congress on June 30, 2017, to keep one of his campaign promises to go to Washington, make a difference, and leave.

Five members of the Steering Committee (decides committee assignments) say that Gowdy could easily win a race for the position. Steering Committee member Tom Graves (R-Ga.) intends to nominate Gowdy for the position and says, “Trey is more than qualified to be the next chairman of Oversight…. He has a lot of support from our conference, and given the responsibilities that come with the position and his past pedigree [as a prosecutor], he’s perfect for the job.”

This writer believes that Gowdy would make an outstanding Director of the FBI but is also grateful to know that he will remain in Congress. The American people need to have people is Congress that they can trust, and Gowdy is one such person.

Trey Gowdy

My regular readers know that how I feel about Representative Trey Gowdy. I believe that he is one of the few members of Congress that is truly concerned about the security of Americans. I trust him to do the right thing no matter the personal cost.

Representative Devin Nunes, the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, broke the news that he had seen reports confirming the surveillance of Donald Trump and his associates. He announced this week that he would temporarily step down aside from investigating any connection between Trump and Russia. He said that he was stepping aside because accusations were filed against him with the Office of Congressional Ethics because he took the information to President Trump before he took it to his committee. Only liberals think he did a bad thing.

Nunes says that he will continue to be the chairman of the committee even though he is stepping aside from the Russia probe. He says that Representative Mike Conaway (R-Texas) will temporarily be in charge of the investigation into any connection between Trump and Russia. Conaway will be assisted by Representatives Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) and Tom Rooney (R-Fla.).

I think the liberals “bit off more than they can chew” when they forced Nunes to step aside. Now they will have to contend with Gowdy, who has the well-earned nickname of “Bull Dog” and who will get to the bottom of the investigation as quickly as possible. He will not put up with any of the liberal crap!

Benghazi - Follow the Weapons

Douglas Hagmann is the founder and director of the Northeast Intelligence Network; he is also a multi-state licensed private investigative agency.  He uses his investigative skills and training to fight terrorism and increase public awareness through his website.  He can be reached here  He recently published a very interesting article at Canada Free Press.

Mr. Hagmann reminded his readers of the instructions received by Washington Post journalists Woodward and Bernstein from their confidential source known as “Deep Throat.”  The source told the journalist to “Follow the money” in order “to get to the bottom of the Nixon White House cover-up of the Watergate burglaries in 1972.”  Media persistence forced the creation of the Senate Watergate Committee, which eventually led to indictments, convictions, and the resignation of President Richard Nixon.  Nixon resigned before he could be impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives.  His problem was not only the crime but also the cover-up of the crime.

Mr. Hagmann continued, “In consideration of last week’s announcement of a Select Committee on Benghazi, truth-seeking Americans titillated by the formation of this committee would be well advised to recall the backroom dealings that established the Senate Watergate Committee and the political perimeters to which it was bound.  The back story is nicely articulated by Jeffrey Lord in his article published in the American Spectator titled Trey Gowdy and the Real Lesson of Watergate.   Although I am in favor of the formation of a truly independent investigative body, my hopes for the whole truth to be made known are not only tempered by history, but the magnitude of the crime, not scandal, that is now simply known as `Benghazi.’

“In the event that it has gone unnoticed, the White House and the U.S. Department of State is desperate for every American to believe that persistent questions about the attack at Benghazi on September 11, 2012, that killed four Americans, including a U.S. Ambassador (the first such murder in more than 30 years) are nothing more than a baseless political ploy against the current administration and a gratuitous attack to derail a potential future candidate for president.  So do many in congress.  So do nearly all of the major media outlets, every Progressive blog on the internet, and countless political pundits.

“Irrational yet exuberant allegiance to their own political messiah and their matriarch of international mayhem aside, there is a much more important reason for this frenzied veil of protection against any thorough and meaningful inquiry.  Although only a few similarities exist between the `Deep Throat’ of Watergate and my intelligence source for facts related to Benghazi, the message is similar.  Instead being directed to `follow the money,’ I was directed to `follow the weapons.’”

Since receiving that instruction, Mr. Hagmann has written more than four dozen investigative reports about the attack on Benghazi.  He also interviewed Robert “Tosh” Plumlee on his radio broadcast, on April 30, 2014.  The Obama Administration is trying to silence Plumlee because of the eleven questions he posted on his Facebook page.  Mr. Hagmann asked another question that deserves an answer:  Where was Barack Obama during this period?”  His secondary question is, “If Barack Obama was not in charge or making decisions during this most critical period in recent American history, who was?

The efforts of the administration to silence Mr. Plumlee and other whistle blower illustrate the need for us to seek more truth.  Mr. Hagmann’s article is very informative and helpful in this endeavor.  I encourage you to read it.

Abuse of Power

Members of Congress are finally fed up with t Barack Obama’s routine abuse executive power.  The House of Representatives passed a bill allowing congressional lawsuits against Mr. Obama for failing to enforce federal laws.  The bill may not get past the Democrat-controlled Senate and will most likely be vetoed by Mr. Obama, but at least the House took some action!

Representative Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) sponsored the ENFORCE the Law Act and gave a rousing speech to explain why.  You can watch the action here.

“How does going from being a senator to a president rewrite the Constitution? … We are not a country where the ends justify the means no matter how good your motivations may be.”
Mr. Gowdy explained that “process matters.”  “If a president does not faithfully execute the law, Mr. Speaker, what are our remedies?”  “Just sit and wait on another election?”

I like Mr. Gowdy.  He seems to be a real Patriot who is trying to do his job in Congress and not just enrich himself.  He also sounds as though he knows the Constitution and how to defend it.  I would like to see him selected as the next Speaker of the House because I believe he would stand up to our lawless leader.

Trey Gowdy

Congressman Trey Gowdy (R-South Carolina) is a very important person (VIP) in our nation at the present time because he appears to stay true to conservative principles.  I have watched him during congressional hearings several times and have been impressed with him.  He protects and defends our Constitution and American way of life like a pit bull.  He is feisty and direct as well as being knowledgeable; he sounds as though he could care less about being politically correct.  I like him!

During the House Oversight Committee Hearing on excessive conference spending by the IRS, Congressman Gowdy gave a passionate opening statement.  In his statement, he said the institution has a character problem that isn’t going to be “solved with another webinar” and that it may be time to “start over.”

At a congressional hearing on the SAFE Act, Congressman Gowdy discussed the reasons why state and local law enforcement should be trusted to enforce our nation’s immigration laws

Numerous Democrats have made statements in recent months about the demise of the GOP  and the possibility of never winning another presidential election if they do not pass an immigration law.  Congressman Gowdy obviously is not worried about the views of left-leaning politicians because he recently commented as follows.

“I was moved, almost to the point of tears, by Senator Schumer’s concern for the future prospects of the Republican Party, but we’re going to not take his advice.

“The Senate bill is not going to pass the House.  It’s not going to pass for myriad reasons.  I support immigration reform; I think the current system is broken.  But our framers gave us two legislative bodies, and I assume that they did it for  reason.

“The House runs every two years with the theory that we will be closer to the will of the people.  So, under the assumption that the framers meant to give us two legislative bodies and a House of Representatives with 435 members, we are going to work our will, like we have been doing for the past weeks.  We have passed four separate bills out of House Judiciary and an additional bill out of Homeland Security.   We’re making progress, and we will continue to do so.  I’m more interested in getting it right than doing it on Senator Schumer’s schedule.

Congressman Gowdy continued by discussing various ways that Washington should approach the issue of immigration.  Watch him in action here.

I believe that Trey Gowdy is a man we can trust to protect our Constitution and to stand up for us.  I also believe that he is a man that we should watch closely to see that he stands firm on conservative principles.
