What Is TDS and How Can It Be Turned Off?

There are many Americans – millions of people – who hate President Donald Trump for whatever reason. Some of those people have Trump derangement syndrome (TDS). In an article dated September 5, 2024, Psychology Today describes it as follows:

Trump derangement syndrome is a derogatory term used to describe a form of toxic criticism and negative reaction to former President Trump’s statements and political actions. The origin of the term can be traced to the late political columnist and commentator Charles Krauthammer, a psychiatrist, who first coined the phrase “Bush derangement syndrome” in 2003.

Krauthammer, himself a harsh critic of Trump, later defined Trump derangement syndrome as a Trump-induced “general hysteria” that produced an “inability to distinguish between legitimate policy differences and signs of psychic pathology” in the president’s behavior. Journalist Fareed Zakaria, moreover, defined TDS as “hatred of President Trump so intense that it impairs people’s judgement.”

Signs of TDS can be observed along a continuum of reactions, ranging from verbal expressions of intense hostility toward President Trump to overt acts of aggression and even violence against anyone supporting or anything symbolizing him. The recent assassination attempt on Trump’s life provides compelling evidence of the volatility and potential dangers of TDS if left unchecked.

I know numerous people who hate Trump and swear that they will never vote for him. Some of those same people hate him so much that they see no good in him. Although I see many faults in him, I also see good characteristics: He is a leader, one who leads from the front rather than the rear like Barack Obama. He is generous with his wealth and gives away all that he earns as President of the United States ($400,000 per year). He loves America and is not ashamed to show it. He has a strong spine and is willing to stand between the enemy – foreign or domestic – and the American people. Most people can see that he works hard – unlike Joe Biden.

In addition, Trump has good policies. The most obvious policy that is good for America is his policy of a closed border. He does not want people to simply walk across the border and claim the benefits that America offers. Along with his closed border policy, he also has a deportation policy – deport all criminals who are in the United States illegally. That includes all people who entered the USA illegally because they broke US law when they entered the country illegally.

According to an article by Carlos Garcia at Blaze Media, billionaire tech investor and influencer Chamath Palihapitiya believes that “Most of us were LIED TO by the media” and that Trump has been maligned unfairly. It is fair to say that most media personnel on the Left have Trump derangement syndrome. They simply cannot be truthful about him, but Palihapitiya exposes the truth.

Palihapitiya says he took time to really consider some media allegations against the president. [He] says he has made a 180-degree turn on the negative image he had of President Donald Trump.

The podcaster told CNBC News on Tuesday that he was trying to avoid the ideological tunnel vision that many people find themselves in after being besieged by media bias.

“There’s enough people that I hear that are lazy and reductive, and they’re going to end up where they’re supposed to end up – in a little cul-de-sac of their own making,” said Palihapitiya.

“The reality is that most of us were lied to by the media about President Trump. And if you just go back to the source material, you should take away two things: One, he didn’t say half the things [they say] he said,” he said.

“Two, why did these other people just fabricate what they wanted to say so that they could essentially assassinate his character?” Palihapitiya continued. “I think that that second thing is completely unacceptable in America, and there have still been no repercussions, really.”

Palihapitiya said that Trump called him after the podcast, and they had a lengthy conversation. That conversation cemented Palihapitiya’s belief about Trump.

Time alone will tell us how much influence Palihapitiya’s discovery will have on Trump haters. If he has a lot of influence, maybe the Left’s rhetoric will be turned down a notch or two. On the other hand, Palihapitiya may find himself to be the target of some of hatred shown to Trump.

My advice to everyone is to look for the good in all people. There are relatively few individuals in the world who have no good in them, but sometimes we have to look long and hard to see it in some people.

What Kind of Judge is Ana Reyes?

Judges with Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) have slowed or halted many of President Donald Trump’s policies. The Trump administration tried to deport 350,000 Haitians, but a district judge stopped the deportation. Does she have TDS?

Fred Lucas explained the situation with this judge in his article published at The Daily Signal, a portion of which follows.

The Joe Biden-appointed judge who halted the Trump administration’s deportation of about 350,000 Haitians has a background as a private Democrat financial supporter, though with a sometimes-unpredictable judicial record.

U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes, of the District of Columbia, on Monday determined President Donald Trump’s termination of Temporary Protected Status for certain Haitian immigrants “shall be null, void, and of no legal effect” until the case is complete.

Here are six things to know about Reyes.

1. ‘Transgender’ Military Service Ruling

In March 2025, Reyes blocked a Trump administration executive order that expelled certain transgender military service members.

The Trump administration argued the order barring transgender individuals “turns on gender dysphoria – a medical condition – and does not discriminate against trans-identifying persons as a class.”

Reyes countered that the order was a ban on transgender people….

2. Litigating Against Trump

In a 2018 case that predated her time as a judge, Reyes was on the legal team representing 19 people who crossed the southern border without going through a port of entry. A federal judge in the case said the Trump administration could not automatically deport anyone for not using a port of entry….

3. Democrat Donor

Federal Election Commission records show that Reyes was a consistent donor to Democrat candidates and liberal political organizations while in private practice….

4. ‘Much-Needed Diversity’

Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton, D-D.C., suggested that President Joe Biden nominate Reyes for the D.C. district court.

A Norton press release said, “Reyes will be the first Hispanic woman and first openly LGBTQ person ever to serve on that court.” [DEI hire?]

5. Applying the Rules to Biden DOJ

Reyes was not reliably in the Biden administration’s corner after ascending to the court….

6. Sentencing for Trump Tax Leaker

In January 2024, Reyes sentenced former Internal Revenue Service consultant Charles Littlejohn to five years in prison for leaking Trump’s tax returns, along with the returns of thousands of other wealthy people.

Reyes called the leak of Trump’s tax information “an attack on our constitutional democracy.”

“When you target the sitting president of the United States, you’re targeting the office and when you’re targeting the office of the president of the United States, you’re targeting democracy – you’re targeting our constitutional system of government,” Reyes said in the sentencing.

Reyes may be a strong liberal Democrat, but she does not have Trump Derangement Syndrome. From the above-described cases, it looks like she decides in favor of the Constitution, something that we want all of our judges to do.

What Is Trump Derangement Syndrome?

The liberty principle for this Freedom Friday concerns Trump Derangement Syndrome and its affect on ordinary people. Many people voted for Joe Biden in 2022 because they hated Trump so badly, but Trump hatred and Trump Derangement Syndrome are two different problems. Trump hatred can stem from hearing what others say about Trump. It can come from comparing Trump’s moral compass to one’s own and finding Trump’s lacking. It can come from any number of things. Trump hatred can be cured by wisely comparing the positive and negative factors of Trump to those of other politicians.

Trump Derangement Syndrome [TDS] is Trump hatred taken to a different level, and it cannot be cured. Blogger Mike McDaniel described TDS this way:

Those contracting the progressive disease [known as Trump Derangement Syndrome] suffer years of misery as Trump lives rent-free in their heads before their inevitable, gruesome, end. The disease drives its victims to paranoid obsessions and dementia commonly manifesting in apocalyptic, absurd public pronouncements of impending national and global doom. Other debilitating symptoms include dyschronometria – time distortion – a tendency to accuse others of impossible crimes and a compulsion to engage in wild logical fallacies.

McDaniel used presidential historian Michael Beschloss as an example. This unfortunate soul suffers from primary TDS symptom of believing that Trump is trying to destroy “our democracy” [we have a democratic republic – not a democracy]. In addition, Beschloss apparently believes that Trump caused the Holocaust!

Presidential historian Michael Beschloss said Saturday on MSNBC’s “American Voices” that former President Donald Trump intentionally uses language that “led to the Holocaust.”

Beschloss said, “Absolutely, and provide Hitler with an easy way to blame the many ills of Germany 1924 after World War I, one group which was Jewish people as well as some others but it was mainly Jews. And for Donald Trump as a former president and possible future president to use that language, knowing that that language led to the Holocaust, he knows what he’s doing, and he thinks it works.”

I think that it is far-fetched to think that Trump influenced Hitler with his language because Trump was born in June 1946. It is just as far-fetched to believe that Trump is Hitler – a primary TDS symptom. McDaniel continued his article:

I’m not a psychologist or physician, but Beschloss is obviously suffering from dyschronometria. It’s possible he’s referring to unspecified “that language” causing what may are reasonably calling the Second Holocaust, the October seventh Islamist attack on Israel. If so, that’s further and convincing diagnostic evidence of TDS. Hamas, bloodthirsty Islamist savages, certainly needed no verbal nudging from Donald Trump or anyone else to murder Jews, and Beschloss provides no specific information to indicate Trump had anything to say prior to October Seventh that could, in any logical universe, compel lunatic Islamists, who need no outside encouragement, to the slaughter of innocents.

That’s another common TDS-related mental illness, the idea that civilization dare not strike back at the Islamist barbarians raping, mutilating, immolating, torturing and murdering them, because that will make them angry and produce future generations of raging, Islamist savages.

This leaves the inescapable conclusion and diagnosis Beschloss is in stage four TDS. Yet another TDS symptom allied with paranoid obsession is thinking others possessed of supernatural powers. Beschloss implies Donald Trump, not yet even a gleam in his father’s eye, was influencing events in Germany after WWI. Obviously crackling with magical power, Trump, while not yet an embryo in utero, was somehow knowingly using “that language,” which “led to the holocaust,” and he projected that power across the Atlantic! Trump’s powers are even more incredible when one considers the Holocaust was over before 1946 when Trump was born.

All people of good will must say a prayer for Beschloss and his family, but if even a tiny portion of his fantastic utterances are by chance true, and Donald Trump has those powers, that’s a selling point, not a bug, for his reelection.

I have enough common sense to believe that McDaniel is using his sense of humor to poke fun at Beschloss and all other people who have such strange ideas. As the sperm and egg that created the baby who became Donald Trump had not yet come together, Donald Trump was a mere spirit in the pre-mortal world.

I know that some spirits, particularly that of Jesus Christ, had great powers in their pre-mortal lives, I cannot see any circumstances where Trump would be given such powers because the pre-earth missions were delegated only to the Savior and some of His chosen prophets. I would write that explanation off as plain foolishness.

However, the comparison of Trump to Hitler can be downright dangerous because it may frighten people into voting for another loser like Joe Biden. Biden has done more damage to our American way of life than Trump would have done in twice as many years. People, please use your common sense to compare the peace and prosperity that America enjoyed during the Trump administration to the war and poverty of the Biden administration. Which one do you prefer?

Also, be careful. If you are one of the Trump haters or Never Trumpers, you should find a friend or family member with common sense to air your grievances. Then listen to why your hatred is misplaced. If you should recognize TDS in yourself, you should put your life in order as soon as possible because the disease cannot be cured and can lead to an early death.

Are You Guilty of Trump Derangement Syndrome?

Democrats hate Donald Trump so much that they want him in prison. This hatred has a name: Trump Derangement Syndrome. They hate Trump so much that they cannot even think clearly. Why do they have such strong hatred for Trump? As far as many Democrats are concerned, Trump’s worst sin was winning the 2016 presidential election. They believe that Trump was an illegitimate president because – in their eyes – an outsider could never legally get more votes than the elite Hillary Clinton.

This sounds a whole lot to me like not accepting the election – and Clinton was the most unwilling and took her time ceding the election. She moped and complained about the election for a couple of years before authoring a book titled What Happened? Democrats continued to believe that Trump was an illegitimate president and contended that Russia put Trump in the White House after the 2016 presidential election.

The 2016 presidential election is not the only one that Democrats consider to be tainted. I remember the 2000 president election when we went to bed thinking that George W. Bush had won the election and awoke to several weeks of arguments about “hanging chads” in Florida. The matter was taken to the Supreme Court, and the Justices there put an end to the counting of chads. Bush was declared the winner of the election over the objections of Democrats.

The Democrat reaction was to declare that Bush was an illegitimate president. However, they did not hate Bush like they hate Trump. What is the difference? Why do we now have people afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome, but we never heard of Bush Derangement Syndrome? Could it be that Trump declared that he was going to “drain the swamp” or expose the Deep State – the same groups that I refer to as secret combinations?

Larry Elder is a bestselling author and nationally syndicated radio talk-show host. In an article published by The Daily Signal, Elder declared that we “can trace former President Donald Trump’s indictment by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg back to the media/Democrat belief that Trump’s 2016 election was illegitimate. He reminded his readers about the Bush vs. Gore Supreme Court decision and Hillary Clinton questioning the birthplace of former President Barack Obama. However, Trump is the only President that has ever been declared illegitimate.

Bragg’s indictment of Trump is the first time in American history that a ruling party arrested the leader of the opposing party. This is the type of action that takes place in nations like Russia and China – not America. However, it looks like America has become a banana republic.

We know that Democrats committed crimes – the Clinton organization and the Biden crime family come to mind. Should the Republican District Attorney in Arkansas bring charges to the Clintons? Should other state attorney generals bring charges against other government leaders? It could happen because Bragg opened Pandora’s Box.

Will Americans Discern the Difference in This Election?

Incumbents, those currently in office and seeking reelection, usually remind voters of all their great accomplishments. If the incumbent does not have a good record on which to campaign, their opposition is wise to remind the voters of the disastrous results of the incumbent. In the 1980 presidential election, Ronald Reagan was challenging President Jimmy Carter for the presidency. The polls showed that the two men were running a close election. They met for only one debate one week before the November election.

During the debate, Reagan asked a question that became famous: “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?” The nation was experiencing some dark days with stagflation (inflation combined with wage stagnation), interest rates in double digits, and an oil embargo in the Middle East. Carter told Americans to stop complaining about energy and wear a sweater in the house. The misery index in 1980 was 21.98. Any honest American would answer Reagan’s question with a definite NO. Reagan focused the minds of the voters on the Carter failings and won the election.

When a candidate has no accomplishments and has nothing good to tell the voters, they have nothing on which to campaign except calling out the faults of their opponent. President Joe Biden told Americans last week that he does not have any accomplishments on which to brag. He did not say such a thing in actual words, but his attack on former President Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans told his story as plainly as possible. Even though neither Trump nor Biden is on the ballot for November, Biden obviously wants the focus to be on Trump. The strategy worked in 2020, so he is hoping that it works again.

Michael McKenna posted his opinion about Biden’s horrible speech. He described how Biden failed to say anything good about himself and his time in the Oval Office by declaring war on MAGA Republicans, basically half the nation.

President Joe Biden’s speech last Thursday, in which he declared war on those who voted against him in 2020, gave us a peek into the actual status of the 2022 election cycle. By trying to make the election about the actions of the former president – rather than about Mr. Biden’s own record or any of his legislative “achievements” – he made it clear that the Democrats know they are in trouble unless something happens to shake up the race.

If Team Biden thought otherwise or believed the public polling, they would have not felt the need to drag President Donald J. Trump into the campaign. They have good reason to be concerned. When limited to likely voters (rather than the more expansive and less reliable metric of registered voters), the generic ballot test for House races indicates that the Republicans are headed towards a modest majority consisting of about 230 Members in the House next January.

Biden and the Deep State are still trying to destroy Trump. The January 6 investigation did not dig up enough dirt on him, so the FBI raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. The Department of Justice will give slow leaks to the public, just enough to keep Trump’s name in the news cycle and to fire up the Left-Wing base.

Wise Americans will ask themselves the provocative Reagan question: Are you better off after two years of total control of the federal government by Democrats? Any honest American will say NO. There should be a giant RED tsunami in November wiping all Democrats out of office. However, I remember two years ago when Trump should have won by a landslide vote, and I do not allow myself to become too optimistic.

I know that too many Americans still have Trump derangement syndrome (TDS), an irrational hatred for all things Trump. The term comes from Charles Krauthammer, a psychiatrist, who originally coined the phrase Bush derangement syndrome in 2003 during the first term of George W. Bush. Krauthammer defined the “syndrome” as “the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to the policies, the presidency – nay – the very existence of George W. Bush.”

The term was later applied to the extreme hatred for Trump shown by millions of Americans. Their hatred was so intense that it impaired their reasoning and judgement. They could not see all the good things that Trump was accomplishing – despite constant harassment -- because their view was blocked by their hatred for the man. Such people did not even consider any of the Trump accomplishments: peace in the Middle East and in the world, the U.S. Embassy moved to Jerusalem, no wars for four years, a southern border that was under control, energy independence, the best economy in U.S. history, and low unemployment in all categories.

Too many Americans get their news from the alphabet news stations and media that is firmly in the pocket of Democrats. This lack of truth, plus their hatred for Trump, pushed them to vote for Biden. Such voters did not know about the Biden family corruption before the 2020 presidential election and thus voted for one of the most corrupt presidents in U.S. history.

I have been praying for America and Americans for numerous years. I remain hopeful that America can be brought back from the cliff that Democrats are pushing us over. However, I realize that it is possible that too many Americans continue to carry hatred for all things Trump in their hearts and will not be able to discern the truth. Biden is trying to fan that hatred. Will he be successful? Only time will tell. Meanwhile, I continue to ask God to bless America!

Trump Derangement Syndrome

Trump Derangement Syndrome is in full blast. Liberals and the mainstream media have been up in arms since Donald Trump won the presidential election in November 2016. They never run out of things to be upset over when it comes to Trump.

In recent weeks they were upset about ICE separating families that enter the US illegally – even though the same thing has been happening under previous administrations. They moved instantaneously to being upset because Trump nominated Brett Kavanaugh to fill the Kennedy seat on the Supreme Court. They are absolutely certain that Roe v. Wade will end if Kavanaugh is confirmed. Now they are upset because they think that Trump dissed American intelligence in his news conference with Russian President Vladimir Putting.

Liberals and people in the media even get upset when conservatives mention Trump Derangement Syndrome. Judge Jeanine Pirro went on The View - knowing full well that she was walking into “the lion’s den” - to discuss her new book Liars, Leakers, and Liberals: The Case Against the Anti-Trump Conspiracy. During the “conversation” the Judge pointed at Whoopi Goldberg and said that she has Trump Derangement Syndrome. Whoopi immediately got upset. Even though she claimed that she did not have it, the conversation erupted and the Judge was told to get out of the building. On her way out, Whoopi came at her again. The other side of the story can be found here.

The Judge is exactly right. America IS better than this. Both sides must come to the point where a simple conversation can happen without eruptions. Whoopi’s eruption did not accomplish a single thing except to make her look like an idiot.
