Who Is to Blame for the Messy Deportation Situation?

The topic of discussion for this Constitution Monday concerns lawful deportation. The Biden administration opened the borders and invited ten million or more people to enter the United States illegally – “come on in, the borders open!” The Trump administration is now deporting as many criminal illegals – the worst of the worst – as quickly as possible.

Most Americans have heard of the billions of dollars of fraud in Minnesota and ICE’s attempt fight to deport as many of the fraudsters as possible. Democrats and others on the Left do not have anything else are desperate to make deportation a big mess for the mid-term elections.

Jarrett Stepman at The Heritage Foundation shared his thoughts about the ICE operations in Minnesota and other blue states.

According to a new media narrative, President Donald Trump and the Department of Homeland Security are behaving irresponsibly by conducting more immigration raids around the country, which in turn have allegedly led to violence against innocent civilians and illegal aliens.

And if you’ve been listening to Democrats, you’d think that the reason that Immigration and Customs Enforcement is particularly active in blue states is that the Trump administration is being mean to them for political reasons.

Their reasoning goes that Trump wants to occupy and bully their states with ICE “terrorists” who spend their time murdering innocent American citizens for no reason….

[Democrats call it retribution-style politics, drams, performance politics at its worst. Republicans call it projection.]

But the narrative that aggressive ICE enforcement in blue states is just some kind of political retribution is bunk for many reasons. The biggest one is that Democrats have actively pursued policies that would lead to a confrontation with the federal government over immigration law.

This is happening by design.

Sanctuary city and state policies aim at blocking the federal government from carrying out federal laws through non-compliance. [Ice uses different processes in non-compliant states as it does in cooperative states.]

The Trump administration has generally prioritized bringing in illegal aliens with a criminal record. This can be done more easily in states that cooperate with the Department of Homeland Security. Generally, local authorities detain individuals for various crimes, and when they discover that the criminal is an illegal alien with a deportation order, they hand them over to federal officers.

Not so in blue states, where the federal government must actively pursue illegal aliens if it wishes to detain and deport them.

CNN actually covered this issue in August.

“In states that voted for President Donald Trump, ICE agents are far more likely to arrest immigrants directly from prisons and jails,” CNN reported.

“In Democratic-leaning states, by contrast, ICE is frequently arresting immigrants from worksites, streets and mass roundups that have sparked protests and intense backlash in cities such as Los Angeles. Most of those arrested don’t have any criminal record,” CNN continued.

CNN further found that “59% of arrests in red states took place in prisons and jails, while 70% of arrests in blue states took place in the community. That partisan gap between red and blue states existed before Trump’s second term began – but it has widened since last year.”

The sanctuary policies are triggering the federal government to engage in aggressive raids. These raids are less efficient, riskier, and more likely to sweep up illegal aliens who don’t have an extensive criminal record outside the initial crime of violating U.S. border laws….

Democrat politicians and their activist supporters certainly know that sanctuary policies encourage more aggressive ICE enforcement….

Instead of just accepting de facto nullification of federal law, the Department of Homeland Security has stepped up ICE raids to make up for non-cooperation in places like Minnesota.

When you combine that with an aggressive, activist street element and irresponsible Democrat politicians like [Minneapolis Mayor Jacob] Frey and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, you get situations like the ones that led to the ICE shooting of Rachel Good.

The blame for this messy situation doesn’t fall on the Trump administration. It falls on those who don’t accept the results of the 2024 election, who insist that the results of the open borders insanity of President Joe Biden be locked in forever, and now look to do everything in their power to undermine the law.

Do Democrats Love Illegal Aliens More Than They Love Big Government?

Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD.) traveled to a prison in San Salvadore, El Salvador, on April 17 to meet with illegal immigrant Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia who had been deported back to his home country of El Salvador. Other Democrats made such a fuss about Garcia being deported that the Trump administration brought him back to the United States. Now he is slated to be deported to Africa because he complained about being deported to other nations.

From the Democrat reaction to the deportation of Garcia and other illegal immigrants, it looks like they love illegal immigrants more than they love Americans. Now Democrats have shut down the U.S. government to object to a “clean” continuing resolution passed by the Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives on September 19 with a vote of 217-212. It looks like Deroy Murdock may be correct in his statement, “Democrats love illegal aliens more than Big Government itself.”

This continuing resolution would have kept the government open through November 21, which would enable representatives and senators to work out compromises – the way that democracy is supposed to work. Government funding ends annually at the end of the fiscal year, which is September 30, unless it has been refunded. This year it was not refunded, so the lights went out. Murdock explained the situation as follows:

Republicans performed their responsibility to finance Uncle Sam’s activities, from Social Security to the Secret Service. They voted “yea” by a 216-2 margin, with 99.1% of Republicans present agreeing to keep the federal doors open.

House Democrats, however, voted almost unanimously “nay” – 1-to-210. Less than 0.5% chose to maintain federal services.

Regarding the House bill, 43 of 45 Republican senators who voted (95.5%) voted “Yea.” (Alaska’s Lisa Murkowski and Kentucky’s Rand Paul demurred.) Within the Senate Democrat Caucus, only 1 of 47 (Pennsylvania’s John Fetterman), or 2.1%, voted to keep federal functions going. (Eight Republicans didn’t vote, but their potential “yeas” would not have yielded the 60 required for passage.)

All told, Democrats killed that continuing resolution 44-48. They also torpedoed three subsequent GOP bids to end the minority party’s intransigence. So, the Schumer Shutdown roars on.

Democrats could have kept their beloved Big Government chugging along, with tax dollars cascading into every marble palace in Washington, D.C. Federal salaries would sustain park rangers at the base of the Grand Canyon and NASA’s astronauts aboard the International Space Station. Veterans Affairs doctors would heal war wounds, just as Foreign Service officers would advance American diplomacy at U.S. Embassies worldwide. Washington’s printers would spew checks for soybean subsidies, highway construction, endangered species, law enforcement, Head Start, and atomic weapons.

Democrats could have savored this and much more that Big Government undertakes. Their sacred programs, extravagant initiatives, and lavish freebies would have flowed like Ol’ Man River.

But Democrats said, “hell, no!” to all of this because they love something even more than Big Government itself: Illegal aliens. Once merely romantic, this passion inches toward the erotic….

Among other things, Democrats’ attempted wet kiss for their illegal-alien paramours would have:

·         Renewed Medicare benefits for illegal aliens and foreign citizens (10-year cost: $5.1 billion).

·         Revived Medicaid assistance to same ($6.2 billion).

·         Restored bonuses for taxpayer-financed emergency care ($28.2 billion).

·         Resurrected Obamacare subsidies ($91.4 billion).

If enacted, tis Democrat blueprint would have handed illegal aliens and foreigners $192.8 billion in “free” taxpayer-funded health care….

And since Republicans are blockading this nearly $200 billion, decade-long raid on the Treasury, Democrats repeatedly have voted to deny American citizens basic public services.

And that’s how the Schumer Shutdown was born….

Why Did Illegal Immigrant Terrorists Receive Social Security Numbers?

Honest reporters have been telling us for years that the Biden administration was flying planeloads of illegal immigrants into American cities in the middle of the night. Among those illegal immigrants were “known or suspected terrorists.” Now, we are being told that illegal immigrants were given “Social Security numbers and taxpayer-funded welfare benefits.”

We know about the Social Security numbers and welfare benefits meant for U.S. citizen because of the audit being done by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Bethany Blankley reported on the situation in her article published at The Daily Signal

DOGE posted it latest findings of alleged government waste, fraud, and abuse, fully funded by Congress, in a post on X.

“Under the Biden administration, it was routine for Border Patrol to admit aliens into the United States with no legal status and minimal screening,” DOGE said. It’s referring to the more than 14 million illegal border crossers reported under the Biden administration, including more than 2 million who evaded detection, The Center Square first reported.

They included millions flown to the U.S. on international flights paid for by taxpayers through parole programs created by the administration that judges ruled were illegal in lawsuits filed by states. Among them are more than 1 million from Venezuela, including members of the violent terrorist organization Tren de Aragua [TdA], who, under the Biden administration, had expanded into at least 22 states where crimes were reported, The Center Square exclusively reported.

Under the Biden administration, Border Patrol and U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers released inadmissible illegal foreign nationals into the U.S. instead of processing them for removal. Among them were “a subset of 6.3K individuals paroled into the United States since 2023 on the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Center watchlist or with criminal records,” DOGE said.

It's referring to the Terrorist Screening Dataset, the federal government’s database that contains sensitive information on terrorist identities. The database originated as a consolidated terrorist watchlist to hold information on known or suspected terrorists. Over the past decade, it evolved “to include additional individuals who represent a potential threat to the United States, including known affiliates of watchlisted individuals,” U.S. Customs and Border Protection has explained.

Under the Trump administration, “These paroles have since been terminated with immediate effect,” DOGE said, referring to more than a dozen parole programs House Republicans identified as illegal.

“Despite having no other legal status, paroled aliens” under the Biden administration were given work authorization and received Social Security numbers. Of the 6,300 paroled illegal foreign nationals with criminal or terrorist records, all given Social Security numbers, many received federal welfare benefits, DOGE said.

Of them, 905 received a combined $276,000 in Medicaid funds, including four on the terrorist watchlist; 41 collected a combined $42,000 in Unemployment Insurance; 22 received a combined $280,000 in federal student loans; 409 received a net combined total of $751,000 in 2024 tax refunds; “several (final number TBD) received SNAP (food stamp) benefits,” DOGE said. More information is expected….

Under the Biden administration, the greatest number of known and suspected terrorists were apprehended in U.S. history of 1,903, The Center Square exclusively reported. The majority, 64%, totaling 1,216, were apprehended at the northern border coming from Canada between fiscal years 2021-2024, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data.

A record 687 number were reported at the southwest border over the same time period, The Center Square reported….

What Will Happen with the So-Called Border Security Bill?

Former President Donald Trump campaigned in the 2016 presidential election on a promise to build a wall and close the border. Democrats and too many Republicans fought him every step of the way. Despite the head winds that he faced, the Trump administration managed to build more than 500 miles of border wall. Some of the new border wall segments replaced old and incomplete fencing or other markers, and some of it closed previously wide-open spaces. However, the wall was never completed, and the Biden administration took full advantage of the lack of border security.

Within the first 100 days of the Biden administration, Biden signed executive orders to stop many of the good actions that the Trump administration had taken, including border security. Biden stopped “remain in Mexico. He stopped construction on the wall and paid contractors to store the border wall materials. He invited the entire world to cross the border, and he refuses to do anything to stop the consequences of his blunders.

Eight million plus illegal immigrants have crossed into the United States since Biden was inaugurated. Democrats refused to see any problem – until Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Texas Governor Greg Abbott began busing the illegal aliens into blue cities. Now the whole nation understands that there is a crisis at the borders – both north and south.

Senate leaders sponsored a “border security” bill, and a bill was written with both Democrat and Republican senators working on it. The bill was kept hidden for months, but the Senate finally released the text of a 370-page spending bill on Sunday. According to Virginia Allen at The Daily Signal, the so-called “border security” bill has $20 billion for “border-related provisions and $60 billion for Ukraine.”  Allen continued her reporting:

The bill was originally intended to be a bipartisan compromise giving Democrats the Ukraine funding they have advocated for, and Republicans the border-security measure they have called for.

But border policy experts say the bill does nothing to stop the flow of illegal immigration.

Once the bill was out in the open, Republicans studied it and discovered that the new bill was worse than the present laws. From all reports, the bill is on life support at present and will be dead on arrival in the House of Representatives. Biden came out of his basement long enough to put the blame on Trump and his MAGA supporters. Biden and his Democrat followers are spreading the word that Republicans do not want to secure the border. However, Americans are not stupid, and we are not blind. We know that Biden could shut the border today if he wanted to do so. He has the same laws that Trump had, and Trump secured the border!

Even Bill Maher, the host of HBO’s “Read Time with Bill Maher,” can see through the smoke and mirrors being thrown out by Biden. He knows that the hoards of illegal immigrants coming across the border are coming because of Biden’s blunders.

As reported by Laura Wellington at The Western Journal, Maher had New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu and Jessica Tarlov, co-host of “The Five” on Fox News, on his show last Friday. Maher is liberal, but he is honest in his criticisms. He said that both Democrats and Democrats are “acting” when it comes to the border crisis. He said that Republicans do not want to solve the issue because it is a good point to use in this year’s political campaigns, but then he turned his “ire” on the Democrats.

“Part two of the acting is Joe Biden saying, ‘You know what, if you just give me a new law.” A new law? Why doesn’t – the president can fix this. He already has the existing laws. This is all so silly. ‘I need a piece of paper from Congress to deal with the border.’ No, you already have that,” he said….

There’s no question Biden could stop this invasion of illegal immigrants.

House Speaker Mike Johnson shared the “Real Time” clip on X and said, “Even Bill Maher gets it. President Biden absolutely has the authority right now to fix the catastrophe he’s created at the border.”

This is an invasion by design, and the Biden administration is leading it.

The day he took office, Biden reversed everything former President Donald Trump put in place to control the border. He has done everything since to place our nation in a state of chaos while the invasion takes place.

All Biden needs to do is to return to the policies put into place by the Trump administration. The border was being closed, and illegal immigration was under control during that time period.

Even if Trump is re-elected, gets the wall built, closes the border, and brings illegal immigration under control, the United States will always suffer from the actions – or lack of action – of the Biden administration. Few of the eight million plus immigrants that Biden allowed into America will never leave. They are overwhelming our system and weakening our nation. Our Constitution and our nation are in great danger and will suffer greater destruction if Biden – or any Democrat – is elected as the next President of the United States.

Yet, all that Biden can say is, “Give me the power! Pass the bill.” Why would any person in their right mind give more power to the want-a-be dictator Biden?

How Does Illegal Immigration Affect Independence of Americans?

The topic of discussion for this Constitution Monday is independence, as in Independence Day. Americans lost some of their independence after terrorists attacked our nation on September 11, 2001, and under numerous administrations. However, no administration has destroyed American independence at the rate that the Biden administration has done.

Under the Trump administration, the United States was oil independent. We did not have to dependent on anyone but ourselves to provide our oil, and we had oil and natural gas to export to other nations. Joe Biden came into office and began to shut down the oil and gas industry, beginning with the Keystone Pipeline during his first week as president.

The Trump administration put several policies in place to stop the flow of immigrants from entering our nation illegally. The Biden administration has done away with each of those policies, and more than two million illegal aliens have entered the United States in the past eighteen months.

Although the Supreme Court made many decisions that were good for our nation, they made a big mistake in my eyes when they approved the termination of the Remain in Mexico program (formally known as the Migration Protection Protocols). In a 5-4 decision, moderate justices joined the liberal justices to terminate a successful program. Chief Justice John Roberts and Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh joined liberal Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan.

The Supreme Court’s decision will make matters at the border even worse. Remain in Mexico was implemented in 2019 to stop the large caravans of immigrants from coming to the southern border, claiming a fear of returning home, and being released into the United States – never to be heard from again.

In 1996 Congress gave authority to the Department of Homeland Security to return non-Mexican immigrants arriving by land to Mexico while their claims for asylum were determined. The program worked exceptionally well, and the caravans stopped. The numbers of travelers coming to the border declined once they and the human smugglers learned that the people would not be allowed to enter the United States. This was a good program because the vast majority of asylum claims proved to be fraudulent.

The Biden administration was determined to throw open the southern border and invite the world into our nation. To do so, they ended every successful immigration policy and enforcement program put in place by the Trump association, including Remain in Mexico. Texas and Missouri sued the Biden administration, and the district court issued an injunction. The Fifth Circuit Court affirmed the decision by the lower court, and the case went to the Supreme Court.

Lora Ries and Hans von Spakovsky at the Heritage Foundation claim that the Supreme Court made a big mistake when the justices believed the arguments put forth by the Biden administration. Court Unwisely Lets Biden End Program Making Illegals Remain in Mexico (dailysignal.com)

In oral arguments before the Supreme Court, the government disingenuously blamed Congress for not providing enough detention resources for the administration to comply with the mandatory detention statute.

But the open-borders left that controls this White House doesn’t want to detain illegal aliens. The Biden administration does not use all the detention space it has, eliminated family detention centers, cut the Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s budget, and relies on ineffective alternatives to detention that allows aliens to disappear into the anonymity of our vast nation.

Further, the government argued it could not implement the Remain in Mexico policy because it would be too difficult to negotiate an agreement with Mexico.

This cop-out ignores the fact that international negotiations are a regular function of the executive branch and that the last administration had no problem reaching an agreement with the government of Mexico to allow these aliens to remain there….

Third, the government argued that, instead of returning illegal aliens to Mexico, it has no other choice but to parole illegal aliens into the U.S.

Under the law, parole can only be granted on a case-by-case basis for urgent humanitarian reasons or a significant public benefit. The government made the ridiculous argument that it met the significant public benefit requirement because parole ensures that DHS doesn’t run out of detention space to house future aliens who might be higher priorities because of their criminal records or flight risk….

Despite the government’s weak arguments, the court majority rules that because returning aliens to Mexico is discretionary, not mandatory, the Biden administration did not act unlawfully in ending the program….

The justices explained that Congress did not “state that the Remain in Mexico policy becomes mandatory if the government cannot comply with mandatory detention.” In other words, Congress did not do its job. In addition, the justices refused to “direct the executive branch to conduct foreign affairs. Rather, that’s Congress’ job. Finally, the majority gave the government a pass on the issue of mass parole in seeming violation of the statute, concluding that DHS can exercise parole.”

Some of the justices saw through the government’s arguments. Justice Samuel Alito wrote in his dissent that “the number of aliens paroled each month – more than 27,000 in April alone – is a strong indication that the government is not making parole decisions on case-by-case basis.” He continued by stating that the “parole statute cannot justify the release of tens of thousands of inadmissible aliens.” Alito added:

… rather than avail itself of Congress’s clear statutory alternative to return inadmissible aliens to Mexico while they await proceedings in this country, DHS has concluded that it may forgo that option altogether and instead simply release into this country untold numbers of aliens who are very likely to be removed if they show up for their removal hearings.

The authors concluded that this “practice violates the clear terms of the law, but the court looks the other way.” They said that the Court’s decision will embolden “the Biden administration to continue to allow an unlimited number of illegal aliens to flood our communities in violation of federal immigration law and encouraging asylum fraud.”

While illegal aliens are flooding our border and entering our communities, the “Mexican drug cartels that control the smuggling and human trafficking across our southern border were the clear winners with this decision. And once again, Americans – including legal immigrants – are on the losing end.”

As long as the Biden administration allows millions of people to enter the nation illegally, Americans will lose independence. Americans deserve to have secure borders and well-run immigration programs.

Southern Border Crisis

Something is happening on our southern border, something that is causing problems for some Americans and may soon affect all Americans.  It appears as though we no longer have a border between Mexico and the United States.  Thousands of young and unaccompanied children from Central America - most from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras - are illegally crossing our southern border at an increasing rate.

Columnist Peggy Noonan compared the crisis on our southern border to a house with problems.  “It’s like you live in a house that’s falling apart.  The roof needs to be patched and there are squirrels in the attic, a hornet’s nest in the eaves.  The basement’s wet.  The walkway to the front door is cracked with grass growing through it.  The old boiler is making funny sounds.  On top of that it’s always on your mind that you could lose your job tomorrow and must live within strict confines so you can meet the mortgage and pay the electric bill.  You can’t keep the place up and you’re equal parts anxious, ashamed, and angry.  And then one morning you look outside and see … all these people standing on your property, looking at you, making some mute demand.  Little children looking lost – no one’s taking care of them.  Older ones settling in the garage, or working a window to the cellar.  You call the cops.  At first they don’t come. Then they come and shout through a bull horn and take some of the kids and put them in a shelter a few blocks away.  But more kids keep coming!  You call your alderman and he says there’s nothing he can do.  Then he says wait, we’re going to pass a bill and get more money to handle the crisis.  You ask, `Does that mean the kids will go home?’  He says no, but it may make things feel more orderly.  You call the local TV station and they come do a report on your stoop and then they’re gone, because really, what can they do, and after a few days it’s getting to be an old story.  No one’s in charge!  No one is taking responsibility.  No one who wants to help has authority, and no one with authority is helping.
“America is the house that is both falling apart and under new stress.  Those living within it, those most upset by what they’re seeing, know America has big problems – unemployment, low workforce participation, a rickety physical infrastructure, an unsound culture, poor public education.  And of course discord of all sorts – a lot of made squirrels running around the attic.  They know America can’t pay its bills.  They fear we’re living on the fumes of greatness.  They want us to be strong again.  Watching our border collapse doesn’t look like a harbinger of progress.”

The crisis at the border is not new; it has been going on for more than two years.  At the onset of the problem, Governor Rick Perry of Texas tried to alert the federal government of the increasing numbers of children.  Nothing was done to stop the flow.  Approximately 50,000 children have crossed the border into the United States with a projected number of 90,000 crossing by the end of 2014.

It seems that anyone with common sense can see that we have a crisis, but our President considers fundraising for Democrats as being more important than solving the border problems.  He does, however, have time to request more money from Congress to use in caring for the illegals. Even Donald Trump can see that “This influx is killing the country.”

Illegal immigrants – the word illegal now being equated with the N-word – are being treated better than other Americans.  We have children and teens in our own nations needing food, clothes, etc.  We have sick and injured military veterans needing medical care.  We have millions of people without jobs.  Unskilled immigrants are taking jobs formerly filled by black Americans.  Illegals are indeed killing our country.

It appears that Barack Obama and other liberals are inviting the influx of illegals into our nation.  The word has gotten back to people in Central America that our nation does not deport people who come here illegally.  They apparently believe that they will be allowed to stay if they can just make it across the border.

We have thousands of children coming into our nation without adult supervision.  No child should have to face the horrors of being so alone and so vulnerable.  What will these children handle this trauma and how will it affect their future lives?  What kind of problems will face these children next year – and many years from now?  Do we really want to invite them into our nation?  I think not.  I do however believe we should be compassionate and tender with them as we send them back to their countries of origin.  Our nation has a true crisis on our southern border.  We need leaders who can make tough choices; we need leaders who will do the jobs we elected them to do; we need leaders who will put Americans first!
